Aamir is so overrated in this forum as well as the outside world. IMO Srk is a much better actor than Aamir.. Aamir tries up to put up that perfectionist act while SRK on the other hand is effortless. Baazigar, Anjaam, Daar you name it and he has nailed all the grey shade roles with so much convention. The only actor who could play a villain and a romantic charming lover so conventionally. ❤️

Oh well, female lead in Darr was first offered to Madhuri Dixit, who had to refuse it due to date problems. So by that logic, it would have been Aamir-Madhuri or SRK-Madhuri in Darr. If it was offered to Aamir first, they must be having his style of acting and all in mind. Yet, SRK was quite good in Darr; and as of now I think he was the right choice.

Also, this is not one of its kind instance. films almost always end up in some other star's kitty. In 90s era, Madhuri had to refuse a lot of good films due to date problems like Damini, Ishq, 1942 A love Story, Khamoshi. in Karan-Arjun, it was Ajay Devgn who was to play Salman Khan's role. but he walked out. Dharmender was to do Zanzeer, instead of Big B, but couldn't. Raj Kapoor was offered Anand before it was offered to Rajesh Khanna. Remember Vikas Bhalla? He was offered Maine Pyar Kiya first, he rejected it and role went to Salman Khan.

Lol!!!

It's not SRK that evoked sympathy from the viewers. It was the script and the way he was presented. People are so gullible. Why didn't we feel the same sympathy in Anjaam?

It was up to the director to present Rahul in whatever way he pleased. There's no 'acting' that can make you root for a 'despicable' character like in Anjaam.

That is partly true but it also depends on actor who is portraying them on screen. Movies touch all our senses.

During Darr, SRK was very new and raw. It shows up on screen. There is vulnerability to his act that can be seen only when the act is guided by pure instinct.

By the time Anjaam rolled out, SRK had honed his acting skill. He no longer depended on his instinct. He had learnt to interpret it.

Call me biased but Aamir I'm sure would have done a great job he would have brought something different in his own way

But SRK i must say owned that role it was at a time when he was fresh and raw and got all praise for it and he deserved it, i have no issues in admitting that the role was made for him

In this interview, Udit Narayan confirmed that he was approached after QSQT to sing for Aamir in this film, and the songs were recorded with Aamir in mind. 😆
