That's nepotism too- doesn't only apply to star parents launching, nepotism is also people in power influencing their friends to give jobs to their friends. PC said she never had to audition, what does that say about BW- jobs always are on connections, people don't audition. By literal terms of the meaning of nepotism, EVERYTHING in BW is tainted with nepotism. Using that nepotism card and just talk, I'd rather she take up some concrete step. Like how Anu- PC did, starting up production houses to encourage and support new and regional talent. They even said- that they wanted to do this so that new talent wouldn't have to struggle the way they did. I'm not saying Kangana should open a PH, but do some action rather than the talk.

Yes Anushka debuted 2 years after Kangana (2008) and she also had flops/setbacks in her career after coming to the industry. But she was brave enough to start her own production house at an early age. She found a better way to deal with this issue. Same applies for Priyanka. Kudos to both of them for starting their production houses and its great that they want to support outsiders.

Kangana always say how she struggled which is true so I hope she will also do something for the outsiders who are struggling now. It will be great!

I think the worst part about bollywood is casting couch and I hope actors become more open and speak about that. Its understandable that yesterday stars will launch their kids. But the bigger issue here is how outsiders become victim to casting couch

Nepotism right? Not at all. Its like saying corruption over merits... Only one path has a future and its not corruption (nepotism).

Parents can only prepare their child to life. Determining their future is like thinking for them. Having an easy life, isn't a meaningful life... As light can only emerge from darkness and never the other way around... In other Nepotism is going against Life and Nature itself...

I think the main issue here is acknowledging you are privileged. Ofcourse nepotism is there and continue to be there in the near future and things wont change. But saying you are here or surviving due to your talent alone is incorrect and thats the main point many people are trying to make.

If you mean that actresses have to sleep with everyone to get a job is nepotism then you are wrong...
In this field it's about trusts and compromises... If you don't play the game, you are out of the game. That's as simple as that...
In other words, if there weren't Nepotism any actresses or actors from outside wouldn't have needed to make "compromises" with their director, producer and even heroes... Do you know certain new actresses (and actors) have to go through 10 or more "auditions" and/or "photoshoots" before having a role? You think that's nepotism for them to go through this? Its certainly not about talent...

The flaw in comparing nepotism in BW to other industries is that the revenue comes from the tickets the general public pays. It's bizarre, they'll go to malls in tier-2 cities begging please watch our movie but if the same public wants to join the industry, they shut the doors. In any industry, there's a process- you give an interview, join the company, get promotion basically there's a chance. To get a supporting role as a outsider, you either need years and years of theatre/Tv experience or be willing to sleep with producers/actors (on top of that, get s**tshamed for being exploited, wow).

If they do manage to get success, people like Karan spread gossip (90% gossip come from Kjo/Kapoor gang) and ruin their public image. It's very difficult for an outsider to compete with a star kid when they don't even get the opportunity to prove themselves. Good, strong roles like in Highway or Neerja, a Parineeti or Swara Bhaskar would have performed as well or better, but they were never given chance to audition. Instead, they have to wait for long or do substandard roles, and this perception is created that Alia is the best actress of this gen 😆 The system is truly rigged.

I don't think anyone is asking them to stop acting. The backlash is for the responses they gave. They could've definitely worded their responses better than just saying shut up or comparing it with a dad giving pencil box.
No one's telling their dad to stop promoting their kids. The industry is not a monopoly, if you are a production company making films, isn't it obvious that it should be open to all for work just like any business around the world? Reliance doesn't run only with Mukesh Ambani's kids right, there are many other people involved.
Any workspace or industry should treat individuals equally and when a Kangana Ranaut with a failure like Rangoon is expected to slash her fees while Ranbir and Hrithik still charge a bomb after failures like Besharam, Bombay Velvet, Mohenjadaro and producers have no problem, then that is inequality and there's a problem and that's nepotism. Even as a star kid you give a flop, either producers still fund your film or his pappa funds the film, something that outsiders don't get. And that's why nepotism is a problem and should be discussed and when it is discussed, actors like Alia and Varun will obviously be involved.
