Okay I watched the Varun Alia interview on Nepotism. I am sorry but I don't think it was as bad or offensive as some people are making out to be. I think every parent wants the best for their child, want their child to flourish, and do well. Of course, not every parent have enough money or power like the parents of Varun Alia and other star kids parents have. But that is another story.
Now if the likes of David Dhawan, Mahesh Bhatt, Aditya Pancholi, Rishi Kapoor have enough power then they will of course support their children and would want to launch them by giving them the best platform. Any parent will do that. If my mother or father was from the industry then they would had the same thing. This doesn't only exist within bollywood but in industries like IT and Business too. People who have connection find jobs faster and more easily. You basically need connections any or everywhere you go no matter how talented or expert you are in your field.
I don't think Varun Alia or any of the other star kids are at fault. If they are given a golden opportunity then they will make full use out of it. I am sure everyone will do the same. Why blame them for nepotism because they didn't started it. It has always exist. I am sure if Kangana was a star kid, she would had done the same thing!
I don't even think we should blame their parents. They have power and money so why wouldn't they launch their kids or relatives? After all every parent wants their child to flourish and succeed.
Instead, I blame the directors and those big producers/production houses for not giving chance to the outsiders and launching star kids without seeing their talent. I blame people like Karan Johar who are obsessed star kids and see nothing beyond star kids. Karan Johar has always claimed how passionate he is about film making but it does not seem so. Because there are so many outsiders waiting in line who might be very talented and good looking but he conveniently ignore them.
The whole system is rigged and sadly will remain so. Because it has always been like that. Like I said stories like SRK, Akshay or even Salman (who struggled to make his mark) are rare! I feel if anyone should be blame of nepotism then it should be those production houses and producers who never bother to seek or look for talented outsiders! Those producers who ignore the long line of outsiders and cast a daughter/son of a yesterday famous actor or actress.
