Bollywood is not an industry , but like Kjo says a "fraternity".The recent economics show how these few family-owned PHs control the financial flow. It becomes a big role why these family promote nepotism. There are no screen-tests, auditions happening for most of the movies and the casting is usually done by people making phone calls and throwing names from their own circle. The reason people talk more about BW's nepotism because -

It's a visual medium which deals with public perceptions. It is an industry which would sell each other's sex lives, relationships to stay in the news. Hence, it is the most scrutinized one . When we talk of an industralist's son becoming a CEO then we tend to ignore the overall ration in the industrial sector where his father would be working. All the other real-life examples even with nepotism has a wider space for people with merit to succeed. With BW, this ratio is skewed in favour of the insiders.

If kJo can sell his shows, market his "finds" relentlessly then ofcourse the same media, sns audience and his target market will question him.

So these star kids have a premier rate or buzz that they carry of their parents' legacy, I doubt this percentage but I bet this is how they were/are sold to the Corporate houses who fund these projects. Or independent producers sell the films.

I want to know how much Harshvardhan charged for his movie? And compare that price with an outsider. Also , how much they draw on their debut films. I just want to see how much ROI these celeb kids have. What these celebs kids do ensure however is the attention of film reporters , magazines, arrange for those Filmfare covershots and what not. Beyond that how much value do they really bring a project?

Once again their friends in the media come in handy. I remember just before Mirziya released all media guys from Sahil Rizwan to Rajeev Masand were praising Harshvardhan. Then when it was a disaster they all shut up. Now imagine if it was a hit. Then the same people would have convinced us that BW found a new savior. Its primarily these media guys from upmarket publications/channels who give legitimacy to starkids in the eyes of the audience. I remember earlier Jitesh Pillai wouldnt even acknowledge people like Mawra and Harshvardhan Rane in his chats. He invited Harsh Kapoor for one of the style awards and Harsh being true to himself pissed off Jitesh. After that Jitesh stopped praising him and made sure he didnt get that debut award for which he was very desperate(people didnt realize the real fight was between Filmfare and Harsh and not Diljit and Harsh). Now Jitesh and all other journos have successfully made him a laughing stock.
Now compare to Alia whom they all love...they praise her to skies and everyone here think "wow she is such a fine actress and by backing her I am part of a revolution" and thats how it carries on.

Mere favorite ne struggle kiya.

Tumhare favorite ko Nepotism ka help mila.

That's what Nepotism is in nutshell.

Aaj jo Aloo kachalu pe bhadak rahe hai.. tomorrow same people will have sympathy for Aryan saying -- but he has to live up to his father's legacy. Too much burden he has. Poor chap.

So yes, Anything can be justifiable here. 😆😆 Yeh sab essays ko seriously na lo.

Kangu n Kjo ki fight is for entertainment. Koi Samaj sudharak nahi banane betha. Everyone is here for their own benefit.

That being said.. Aloo still annoys me. Little humbleness & empathy from nepo kids will take them far.. & make them more likable.

This is why Kjo kind of becomes the flag-bearer of nepotism with his contacts with the filmy media .Vogue,Filmfare and now , we have AIB, Buzzfeed acting as a media buffer too. All the draw of these star kids come from these media people who would keep buzzing about these star-kids even before their debut movies are released. I guess the media people get the click-baits with these star kids on the basis of the name-associations, the link-ups and stuff.

Also, the "fraternity friends"..who will all wish these star kids when they make debut , hence bringing these star-kids to a wider audience. I bet these star kids charge significantly higher than outsiders. Stupid corporate houses fall for all this BS and buy a film at overpriced rate.

Shahrukh is an outsider , Aryan won't be an outsider considering his father is Shahrukh Khan. I think that is a fact that even Shahrukh would acknowledge and has acknowledged. As for the living up to the legacy bit i.e of course if Aryan enters the industry , um Abhishek till this day is compared to his father man so those narratives and comparisons are inevitable. As for the poor chap bit..lol! A glimpse at this forum would show as to how Shahrukh's kids aren't spared when it comes to criticism even though they haven't even entered the industry yet so this notion that they would be spared later is amusing to say the least.

Bingo! And these days even critics including the well known ones are paid. So unless the movie is really really bad they give 3 or 3.5 star reviews and keep eulogizing over how amazing an actor X starkid is. Or what amazing entertainer he/she is and audiences are convinced they are going for an amazing films. This goes on till atleast the weekend is done. Whereas non starkids mostly get launched thru small budget movies where producers dont spend much in paying off these people. Last year I saw the difference between how Harshvardhan Rane was treated vs how Harshvardhan Kapoor was treated. The way the media treats them...the difference is so glaring that you feel bad for those attempting to get a break. Thats why only outsiders who kind of get noticed is who have a good body of work beforehand in TV or another industry.

One has to just spend a day near casting agencies in Aaram Nagar and Yari Road in Mumbai to realize how nepotism is really killing good talent in the industry despite so many outsiders so passionate about acting yet struggling to either get a foothold in the industry or a home to stay in. Only then can one get a reality check on how serious the problem is.
No wonder most of them opt for TV after giving up. Atleast TV doesn't differentiate.

It's Karan money, Karan movie...it's his choice to take whoever he wants. He is not pushing them in to public sector jobs . If the actors are bad it will be his loss as it's his investment.
Then what about casting couch? Why people are not taken based on talent ? Why they have to adjust for getting a role? For me this is wrong...as it leases to exploitation of actors.

For outsiders digital is the way forward. Thats where the investment will be from Netflix, Amazon and Hotstar.
