I honestly don't understand what all the hue & cry is about. Why is everyone lynching KJo as if he is the sole perpetrator of nepotism in the industry.😆 Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't this industry operated exactly like this since it's inception? And I am no fan of KJo, but I find all this outrage pretty amusing.😆

Please take a minute to observe the world without those rose-tinted glasses and you will (hopefully) see that good connections help in almost every discipline that is out there. If people are really so outraged by nepotism, they should also rally against nepotism that exists in other fields, not just for the film industry.😆

Besides, why does KJo owe anyone an explanation for who he promotes, launches etc etc? Whether it is fair or unfair, it is his decision to make. For me, this is similar to how references work in the other fields of work, when we apply for jobs. A good reference always makes a difference. And if you are well connected, you are more likely to get them (and get a job offer). Why don't people cry over that?😆

I would have actually liked KJo if he was a little more unapologetic about what he does rather than give justifications.😆 Maybe flaunt the nepotist tag or something. Say stuff like 'Hell yeah, I am the flagbearer of nepotism. Go and cry me a river, boohoo.' lololol 😆 That would have been so brilliant.😛

It's not like he is actively preventing the outsiders from working in the industry, full stop.😆

LMAO ..Akshay is not an outsider because he is Rajesh's SIL but SRK is? 😆 😆 😆
This ridiculous Logic dictates SRK is an insider because he is PC's BF 🤣 🤣 🤣

She is a hard worker and talented, wants to prove herself so we the public did not lose. Imagine if those films had some untalented starkid who was more interested in preening, posing, plastic surgery and stardom than actual acting. Jhanvi Kapoor seems like that. Mentoring is different from handing a career. Adi mentors, Karan hands a career.

Yeah...and the movies you mentioned , well most of them are all movies where like you stated she has proved herself , been praised left , right and center , not to mention a lot of them have done incredibly well at the BO! Why would Dharma not work with a Alia and Varun when they are talented actors who now even have that pull at the BO! We are talking about a business model here. Just to prove to folks he ain't indulging in nepotism , he needs to now stop working with actors who he launched and who have now become stars in their own right! That would be incredibly stupid.

I can't comment on Jhanvi Kapoor as I haven't see her act yet. So whether she is talented or not talented , whether she has a certain screen presence or not can only be decided when one gets to see her act. As for plastic surgery , this is an industry where even "outsiders" have gone under the knife man so that aspect ain't exclusive to only the star kids.

I know the difference between mentoring and handing a career to someone. But if it were that simple to make someone's career , so many people who Salman has backed would be stars too! But like I stated there is something called as talent. Varun and Alia might have been given plenty of opportunities by Dharma but had they not had the BO pull they have now , had they not been talented , I doubt Dharma would still be taking them in the projects it is producing.

Akshay is the complete outsider

What hogwash! 😆 Shahrukh started with theater in Delhi , then did television there and only shifted to Bombay after his mother had passed away. He was working with the likes of Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah when it came to television and it was Aziz's house that he and Gauri moved into when he shifted to Bombay to pursue acting in movies. He is on record stating that it is Vivek Vaswani who was instrumental when it came to him signing some of his earlier movies as it's him who introduced Shahrukh to various producers. He signed like four or five movies in a day and this is something he has stated on record in an interview that he gave before MNIK. But I can understand as to why you would need to prove otherwise😆. As for Salman , Shahrukh has always stated that his family was incredibly warm and welcoming to Gauri and him. A lot of the projects that he infact signed, movies like Darr , Baazigar , Deewana were all movies that other folks were meant to do but it came to him as a lot of them backed out at the last moment.

Or even Salman for that matter. He struggled a lot after coming to industry because big production houses like YRF and Dharma never worked with him until recently.

More power to both Salman Akshay.

YRF SRK teamed up much later ...SRK was already famous from Deewana and Baazigar when Darr released.

Sallu had to struggle 😆 Yeah right, son of a famous scriptwriter had to struggle ...Good Joke 😆

Sallu got a Rajshri launch in MPK as a hero...Rajshri films was already a well established production company.
@ those saying abt SRK's dad's canteen...😆 as if people get film offers from owning Delhi canteens😆
SRK started with theater and then became famous on TV and it was Hema Malini who gave him his 1st film offer in Dil Ashna hai but that film got delayed so he debuted as 2nd hero in Deewana and made history.
Only SRK and Akki were outsiders when they started out, Salliu was very much an insider

Bollywood is not an industry , but like Kjo says a "fraternity".The recent economics show how these few family-owned PHs control the financial flow. It plays a big role why these families promote nepotism. There are no screen-tests, auditions happening for most of the movies and the casting is usually done by people making phone calls and throwing names from their own circle. The reason people talk more about BW's nepotism because -
It's a visual medium which deals with public perceptions. It is an industry which would sell each other's sex lives, relationships to stay in the news. Hence, it is the most scrutinized one . When we talk of an industralist's son becoming a CEO then we tend to ignore the overall ration in the industrial sector where his father would be working. All the other real-life examples even with nepotism has a wider space for people with merit to succeed. With BW, this ratio is skewed in favour of the insiders.

If kJo can sell his shows, market his "finds" relentlessly then ofcourse the same media, sns audience and his target market will question him.

So these star kids have a premier rate or buzz that they carry of their parents' legacy, I doubt this percentage but I bet this is how they were/are sold to the Corporate houses who fund these projects. Or independent producers sell the films.

I want to know how much Harshvardhan charged for his movie? And compare that price with an outsider. Also , how much they draw on their debut films. I just want to see how much ROI these celeb kids have. What these celebs kids do ensure however is the attention of film reporters , magazines, arrange for those Filmfare covershots and what not. Beyond that how much value do they really bring to a project?
