Kareena and him had a falling out so him bringing it up didn't come out of the left field. It was something Kareena has herself addressed if I'm not wrong. Even during that episode , she admitted that she was wrong and was quite self deprecating in the manner she responded as well. They both discussed it together. I believe he brought it up and told her he never held it against her. He told later it was behind them. He even apologized to Rani and told her that he was sorry for not letting her know about the making of the film earlier. It was just an example I used to illustrate that he does much more than play a role of an interviewee that was def a conversation between three friends where he was doing a lot more than just asking questions..
Of course he is part of the conversation considering he's the guy who is asking the questions but he's there as a host and not as a guest! As for him being gracious , I thought he was darn gracious when it came to all that Kangana stated . I'm sure even the folks here who have an issue with him responding now would have probably had the same response had he chose to get into a back and forth with Kangana then. Then it would have become "oh look..he is being so defensive..etc etc". He still is being defensive. She clearly got under his skin other wise he wouldnt have attacked her the way he did in the video.. The longer version is even more offensive. He claims that he is glad Kangana understands what nepotism is.. Kangana according to me has much stronger vocabulary than Kareena, Alia, Rani, and many other women that he is close to.. Im sure Kareena doesnt understand many terms either
It would sting if it is factually incorrect man! And it ain't like he hasn't been roasted before! 😆 It's simple , don't dish it out if you can't take it. Kangana has a lot of opinions about everyone and kudos to her man but then others too have a right to have their opinion about her or something she has to say..right? Her talking about him being "intolerant to outsiders" is factually incorrect but like I stated a nuanced opinion would have not made for a good copy :). Well the same things applies to Karan dont mock other people english if you can not handle their response clearly he cant.. Besides SRK (who was a well established star before Karan worked with him) Most of his films have included industry insiders. And he not only launched Alia he made sure she was getting good offers and casted her in many Dharma production films.. If that is not favortism towards industry insiders than what is? He helped her get highway did he not?
That's the format of the show! You know what you are getting into when you choose to go to KWK! Rapid fire is part of that, However there have been plenty who have been diplomatic so the host ain't putting words in your mouth! I mean these folks are adults for crying out loud. How can Karan manipulate them into answering something. I mean are these folks so gullible or what! They can very well choose to be diplomatic or not go to the show at all if they are so "above" it. It might be a format of the show. But Karan decided to put it in the format? Is it a format on every show that you have to do a round that will require you to be blunt (rude)? Yes some people play it smart but he does encourage people to be rude by rewarding them no? Of course they can chose not to go but his show is mainly about taking digs even others have an option. By manipulations isnt force by definition. Your confusing manipulation with force. Manipulate means skillfully and tactfully get someone do something you want them to do. That could mean him asking pointed questions like asking Kareena how she felt about her rival PC getting a national award? Or rewarding someone for being rude in a rapid fired round. MANIPULATION is not force.
How is it hypocritical? If a remark or a comment is about him then he has every right to state his opinion on it! As for others being offended , well I can cite examples here when others have taken offense at things that have been stated on the show. I remember Rishi Kapoor bashing both Deepika and Sonam , I remember Sonam responding to something Imran had stated , there have been plenty of times where folks have taken offense and chose to retaliate. Some just seem to have an issue this time because Karan is choosing to respond. And that is what I find amusing because he has every right to respond man. Thing is Rishi Kapoor never asked other people to say offensive things about other industry people on his show.. Neither did Sonam.. Karan has made a living off of encouraging people to say rude and offensives things about each other so it is hypocritical when he gets so offended when one person came and said something offensive to him.
The keyword there being "friends"! He has an equation with all of them that goes beyond just films. I mean Rani was in his debut movie man. Kareena is someone who he considers a sister. And you can't expect him to not have an opinion on a falling out that happened between him and Kareena. They both were candid when it came to talking about that issue as it was something that had already been resolved.
So let me get this straight , him stating his opinion is an "attack". I think you pretty much summed up what I was trying to get at there that had he even responded to her in the manner he has done now , he would have been called out on it and it would have been termed "insulting", "defensive" or whatever. And no I don't see him stating his opinion as an attack , if that is an "attack" then so is what Kangana did. But I see neither as that. I see it as two people who are voicing their opinion.
I know what manipulation means man! 😆 And no I don't see it as manipulation. These people aren't as gullible as you are making them out to be! And of course it's format that he has come up with! One that has become darn popular now , one that is used in every other show now. Nobody is spoon feeding you what to say , nobody is asking you to be "controversial" if you don't want to be! It ain't mandatory for any of these folks to go to the show. If you think the "format" is so offensive or so "above" you then why bother going to the show. I remember Sonam had an issue with the whole ranking thing this season and she chose to not do it. So it's an individual choice at the end of the day.
Again , Karan ain't the one who is spoon-feeding these celebs the answers they come up with! They are responsible for the comments they make on the show. They are the ones who are choosing to go to the show. And there is nothing hypocritical in him responding to a remark that he found was out of line.
