In a recent social media post, renowned singer Sonu Nigam has taken to cautioning his followers about the presence of online impersonators and fraudulent accounts operating under his name. This warning comes after the singer himself uncovered multiple accounts falsely claiming to be him, spreading misinformation and controversial content. Nigam has fallen victim to identity theft, with someone misusing his identity and falsely presenting themselves as him on various social media platforms. He has expressed his concern over this misuse of his name and image, emphasizing the importance of verifying the authenticity of any account claiming to represent him.
It has come to my attention that someone has been misusing my identity online. Please note that no one from my team has ever reached out to anyone on my behalf for any reason. If someone claims to be from my management and contacts you out of the blue, please treat it with caution!

Sonu Nigam has also pointed out that he hasn't been active on X (formerly Twitter) for the past eight years. Despite his absence, fake accounts continue to operate under his name, spreading misleading information and content.“A few accounts that people may believe to be mine, are actually being run by someone else. If you come across such fake accounts or messages, please REPORT AND BLOCK," Nigam advised his fans.
Sonu Nigam expressed his gratitude to his fans for their support and understanding. He thanked those who alerted him to the fake accounts, writing, "Thank you to those who’ve flagged the issue to me. And thank you so much, my extended family, for your continued support and understanding."
Sonu Nigam urged his fans to report or block any suspicious accounts, writing, "If you come across any suspicious/fake messages under my name, it would be great if you could report or block the account." This incident comes on the heels of fellow singer Shreya Ghoshal's account being hacked on X in March. Fortunately, she was able to recover her account with help from the platform's support team.
