why do people not find Alia pretty?

Because she is childish looking and as some people said has a mousy face. You have to have a womanly look to be called pretty. She has become more attractive since the weight loss but I dont think she qualifies as pretty. I see girls everyday better looking than her. Im sure there many on the streets prettier than her.

because she is not...simple.Her nose is like a mouse's...now yami gautam is definitely so so pretty...just compare alia's pics on page 1 to yami's gifs on page 2-3😆...and lol nobody here needs to pretty to be able to form an opinion on anybody else's pretty quotient...that's like saying movie critics need to prove their worth as actors,directors,writers etc etc first before giving their opinion on other actors.film makers and writers.

They call themselves middle class but this is what upper class means in India in terms of income in comparison to the majority that lives on a $1 a day. (The truly wealthy are in a different stratosphere.)

I don't know dude, what I know is many of them are not born in cities, but in small towns and many go to English classes for spoken language. But they are certainly average not 1%.

As for beauty and villages, I think there is something quite simple and beautiful in a cotton paavadai thavani or a half saree, gajra wearing girl from a rural area, whose only "spa" treatment is chandan and haldi, adorned with glass bangles, jhumkas and payal. She does/did not own or know a designer from adam, may not speak English or speak it with mistakes. She may have eyebrows like caterpillars, but she is still beautiful. This was my mom in her youth, a young girl from the hinterland of Tamil Nadu. She has lived her life in the US mostly, now all groomed and polished but I have found a simple beauty in her youth that I did not have at her age despite my grooming and western exposure. Beauty does not come from expensive clothes or designer stuff or speaking English or going to a spa to me. In fact, people who do plastic surgery look like freaks to me.

So I do not agree that all BW is beautiful or the average person is not prettier than an actress. Beauty has different versions, in fact the simpler the person, the more beautiful they look. Ash for me exemplifies that. The simpler she dresses, western or Indian, the prettier she looks. If she piles on the make up and dresses like a christmas tree by piling on accessories she is a sure fire fashion don't every single time. Alia to me is not beautiful simply because she looks nice dressed up. She is not ugly, but average looking like most of us. The clothes, make up, professionals she has access to make her look pretty. So I find her average. YMMV

Gonna disagree here. Even Ash with the same genes would not look as good as she does if she was growing up middle class in some small town or village. There would have been no braces or caps on her teeth to straighten or whiten them. There would have been no lasers and peels and expensive lotions to maintain her skin and reduce lines and wrinkles. Also unlikely that as a woman in her 40s, she would be having regular hair appointments to color her graying hair or getting it blow dried. Most likely also overweight and flabby (since she has some trouble with that even now in spite of having cooks and trainers) Most likely also darker and rougher skin just from actually being outside more on scooters or walking and without regular use of sun block, etc.

This is all easy to say that simplicity is beautiful but it might be possible when the person is 20 - starts becoming more and more unlikely with age.

At the end of the day India is still a poor country and most people are not like the ones you talk about who are using fitbits and counting steps and regularly going to the spa. That is the rare urban professional breed who are highly influenced by the fashion/make-up industries and the western world. And they only make up a small percent of the 1 billion population - nothing close to what the average Indian really is.

I regularly visit India as well and just driving on the streets and looking around, I definitely do not see everyone or even the majority looking like Alia Bhatt. Not that she's amazingly beautiful but she is relatively nice looking. If that is what everyone looked like, it would be some magical place or something.

Alia Bhatt is prettier than the likes of bland women like Shraddha and Yami. Alia has oodles of charm and X-factor and she can act so well which makes her even more appealing IMO.

because she is not.

I find her the most average looking in industry.. But her KJo connection brought this far, otherwise I feel Yami, Illeana, Disha, Huma more beautiful than alia. Anyday.
