Akshay Kumar Opens Hospital for Police Force

MUMBAI" The annual event organized by the Police for their families, "Brihanmumbai Police and Zee TV Ayojit Umang 2017," was a star-studded affair graced by celebrities, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and Chairman, Essel Group and Zee, Dr. Subhash Chandra along with his wife Sushila Devi.

Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Tabu, Shilpa Shetty, Shamita Shetty, Vaani Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Mouni Roy and others graced the event. This entertainment extravaganza will be telecast live soon on Zee.

Akshay Kumar, who was also present at the event, and has portrayed a police officer quite a few times on screen, said that he was aware of the responsibilities and challenges that come with a uniform. Though he rarely speaks about any of his philanthropic initiatives, the host for the evening, Manish Paul, revealed that the superstar has taken up a noble initiative for the welfare of the force.

Kumar has opened a hospital for the police in Naigaon in Mumbai, which provides medicines and lodging to them for a nominal fee of Rs 100. The actor, who was visibly awkward speaking about his initiative, shared that his father was battling cancer and he would often visit the Tata Memorial Hospital for his treatment. He was saddened by the plight of the people who had come from all corners of the country to get their loved ones treated.

He decided to open a hospital where the police officers and their families could stay during the course of treatment that was almost free. This was his way of giving back to the society and thanking the policemen for always putting the country before self.

Of late, the world knows that Kumar prefers to do films that highlight or make a comment on aspects of nationalism and patriotism. But this service is his real-life contribution.

Jolly LLB 2 picked up over the weekend to record a good first weekend. The trend of the film was solid on Saturday and Sunday. It has recorded weekend business of 47.25 crore nett which is fourth highest for Akshay Kumar after Housefull 3, Rustom and Brothers

Jolly LLB 2 has scored very well in East Punjab and Delhi / UP with the former recording weekend business of 6.04 crore nett and the latter has grossed 10.50 crore nett. The other circuits picked up well over the weekend but collections in places like West Bengal, Nizam / Andhra and Tamil Nadu / Kerala remained low. Mumbai picked up very well on Saturday and has grossed around 14.50 crore nett.

The film will face its acid test on Monday as although the weekend is good the opening day has cost it the sort of weekend which would have made a certain success. The film needs a good hold on Monday preferably better than the normal 50% drop to get a good lifetime total..
