Let's be real, The Hindi audience are not very bright and the 'bollywood' industry only care about who wins the clash, that's it, nothing else.
It doesn't matter if one of or both films underperformed
it doesn't matter if one or both films have fudged their collections
It doesn't matter who had more screens
It doesn't matter who promoted it more
It doesn't been matter who's film budget was higher
that's all irrelevant. Let's rewind;
The first big clash;
Srk's JTHJ vs Ajay's SOS
Although SRK defeated Ajay, The clash was a lot closer then people tend to remember. But bottom like and what people remember
- SRK is the winner
The second big clash
Srk's Chennai express vs Akshay's OUATIM
Srk and Chennai destroyed Akshay and once upon a time in Mumbai dubara
- SRK is the winner
The 3rd big clash
Srk's Dilwale vs SLB's Bajirao Mastani
Although Dilwale opened much better (Shah's star power) had a much better weekend and first week, Bajirao caught up (in India) and overtook and defeated Dilwale.
Now there was a lot of big factors in this clash, let's run through them shall we..
1) Dilwale was a blockbuster and destroyed Bajirao world wide, but no one cares
2) Bajirao was a very good film, but no one cares
3) Dilwale was an awful film, but no one cares
4) Srk's intollerence comment caused lots of protests, but no one cares
Nobody cares about the above, or even remember anything, all they know and remember is that Ranveer Singh's Bajirao Mastani defeated Srk's Dilwale at the box office.
Then came FAN, the movie had a massive opening due to Shah's star power and was critically acclaimed, however, the film underperformed and people again doubted Shah's star power and only remember that the film flopped. (they forget the huge opening it had/it was a dark film)
Which brings me to the latest clash
Raees vs Kaabil
Originally it was supposed to be Raees vs Sultan, now I love Shah, I really do but Salman's Sultan would have destroyed him and maybe finished him off, I'm so happy that didn't happen and Shah moved to January.
Had Shah released solo I think it would have been a really bad move.
The fact of the matter is Shah lost to Bajirao, people doubted his star power, Fan then underperofmed, again his star power was in question, he then moved from the sultan clash which again, people mocked and said Shah is scared.
Had he came solo with Raees and done well at the box office people would have said he went for the safe option as he knows his star power is on the down and needs all the help he can get coming solo, but nope. He clashed with another big movie and I'm so glad he did.
Hrithik Roshan is a massive star, possibly the biggest star in Bollywood after the Three Khans.
And Raees defeated Kaabil conformably. That's all that will be remembered.
Shah has definitely regained respect in the industry, and perhaps put fear in the hearts of the new stars and directers again that may have been thinking about clashing with him.
Now Shah's next new big release is December 2018, a Christmas is a big holiday, which is usually reserved for Aamir.
Shah has announced he will come at Xmas with the dwarf movie, I don't think anyone will dare clash with Shah now because they know if they did then just like 'Hrithik, they will also fail.
So, the moral of this topic is simple;
Shah beating Hrithik's Kaabil is a very good thing for us Srk fans and massive moral boost for Srk and his status in the industry. He's back 👏
