Exactly a husband fighting for his wife's rape and death is regressive but Glorifying a Gangster is progressive

Terrible

This was a difficult scene to watch and I too was like, Rohan say something! But he is caught up in his own thoughts and feelings at that moment (which is very realistic - we don't always know the right thing to say and when to say it even when trying to and he isn't even really capable of trying at that moment). What the article doesn't mention is that his first response was exactly right, he was there for her! He took her to the police, he tried to take her for her medical exam and was there for her every moment until things went horribly wrong (don't want to spoil) and he felt like he failed her and needed a bit of time to recover. Even Supriya knew they would go back to normal (if the baddies had left them alone).

Looks like a paid article since the author has not watched the entire movie.

SPOILERS:
He is just angry that night at himself that he could not protect her. Su is as well not at all a weak character, she decides to move on with life. But the real reason for suicide is the rape which happens again next day. Rapists say they will come regularly to rape her. Law and police is not helping them and her husband is as well visually impaired like her. Helplessness when it happens again is what makes her commit suicide.

We judge people too soon. I felt she is so weak when she committed suicide but we got to know the reason later.

So this is real explaination !!
If this post wasn't on page 1, I would have joined bashing party 😆

Ghar , starring Rekha and Vinod Mehra was a good movie on this subject, minus revenge angle .

I disagree with the author. He forgot about the suicide letter in which she clearly states that she knows how much he loves her and that he is devastated because he couldnt do anything for her. And the reason why she is suiciding is because it happened again and she cannot see HIM go through all this if this keeps happening every now and then. She also mentions in the letter that 'I just have one guilt that i'm leaving you alone in this world'. So this itself explains that she knows he doesnt have anyone except her, and that he cannot even think about leaving her just because she was raped. Maybe she too said those things the previous night in an emotional state, but she dint mean it.

So this might be the reason why he was not guilty, as she clearly stated in the letter that she knows he loves her too much due to which he is so broken. So to spare him all this pain if this happens again and again, she suicides.

Nope showing a man take revenge for what has happened to his loving wife is totally regressive and unfathomable and unwatchable and disturbing...Also rapes happened only in 90s so taking a movie on that topic now in 2017 is absolutely idiotic...
But taking the life of a proven mass murderer, terrorist and bootlegger and making it look sympathetic hence completely misguiding the people and spreading a wrong message is totally cool...Oh yeah, they claim to have only taken tid bits from the said murderers life and made it into a story of their own...Since the people according to them are stupid fools, it must be totally fine!

That's so disturbing to even read, thank goodness I chose not to watch this film.

Ditto. The use of rape was such a turnoff, especially because it seems that rape and its after effects are not given proper importance or explored, rather rape is used a tool or a device to justify the hero's honor seeking revenge for his lover. It is just so ... cliche and even dangerous at this point. So is the female who actually got raped not to be solaced and comforted instead the hero who goes on to sulk and become morose? Like what kind of shitty ass reversal is that?

I honestly think hindi movies should NOT use rape as such plot devices anymore. It is NOT right, especially when rape and its after effects for its victims is such a huge issue in India. If you want to do a rape related movie or bring rape in the plot, do a movie like "Pink" where its given proper gravitas or not at all. It should especially not be used in hero centric movie where heros redeem their lovers who are raped with revenge from the goons. It is a disgusting way of going about it. Rowdy Rathore also had such cheap rape device and I was completely disgusted with that movie when I watched it.

@bold WORD! Can't agree more!
