What a movie! I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of out and out action movies but Raees is one that has got the balance that you look for in commercial movie! I went for a morning show and the theater was full! Not to mention people were clapping . hollering because the dialogues , the action, the scenes are just darn kickass man!
Let me start with Nawaz , the guy is so good! The humor that his character brings in is also very subtle but so sharp! I'm so glad it is Nawaz who did this role because his screen presence is one that you needed opposite Raees. Both Shahrukh and Nawaz own the screen during the scenes where one gets to see the banter between them and otherwise too.
I haven't really read all the reviews here so I don't know what the verdict here is when it comes to Mahira but I thought she was damn good in her role man. Especially her scenes towards the end where one gets to see her being emotional I thought were so well done! I'm glad one got to see Mahira opposite Shahrukh in this movie, I personally am not much of a fan of her work in Humsafar but I think that has more to do with the fact that I just found whatever I saw of that show too melodramatic .
Zeeshan was again spot on when it comes to his role. I m a big of the actor he's and he showed once again as to how natural he's on screen. Many people have called him a sidekick to Raees but I won't use that term as I thought he brought a lot more to the role of Sadik.
That little kid who plays Raees at the start is such a good actor too man! Wanted to mention as to how much of a perfect casting that was as well.
Now coming to the man himself...Raees :D. Shahrukh has slayed it once again when it comes to portraying a character that is negative. His walk , his swagger , his body language ..he owns the screen when he's on it! People went mad as soon as his name appeared on screen and then there were so many scenes where folks were cheering at his dialogues , be it the scene where he throws back the watch to Atul Kulkarni's character or the one where you first see him on screen or the one where he says "mai dhanda karta hoon , mai dharm ka dhanda nahi karta"..even though one was watching it in a multiplex , the atmosphere was definitely like the one at the single screen theaters! I don't think there is anyone out there who could have played this role.
Coming to that above dialogue , can I just say I'm so freaking glad Rahul made this movie. I know Shahrukh stated that they had to commercialize it a little and after watching it I could make out what they tried to tone down. It's also something that Shahrukh has mentioned in an interview of his but I'm glad there were still elements in it that gave you enough in terms of a Rahul Dholakia movie.
The ending got to me man! I don't know why but it freaking reminded me of Darr. This is like the third Shahrukh movie in a row where I have teared up at the ending , FAN was one where I bawled my eyes out and then there was Dear Zindagi where the last scene between Alia and Shahrukh got to me and now this. That scene in the jeep between Nawaz's character and Raees is one of the best scenes of the movie. The moment Raees says tell my wife the truth and hands over his glasses and chain to Nawaz's character...damn...yeah...that moment definitely gets to you man.
I'm so freaking glad Shahrukh did Raees. I'd love to see him work with Rahul Dholakia in more movies that are grounded in reality yet commercial. Raees has that balance like I stated before . This movie again gives you a glimpse of the versatility Shahrukh has as an actor. I have always stated he's one of the most underrated actors out there. He has owned pretty much every genre he has worked in so he is just one of those who makes it look darn easy when it ain't that easy. His performance is Raees will be counted as one of his best performances. The intensity , the charm , the emotional depth that he has given to this character is just so darn amazing!
I'm again so freaking glad that Rahul wanted him to play Raees and a big thank you as well to the writers who wrote those kickass dialogues . The characters too are so well sketched out man! Kudos to everyone , the writers , the director , the actors and the producers for taking on this subject and making a darn good movie!
I'll go with 3.5 stars for this one!
Once more my survey n prediction is 100% correct and #Raees collected approx 20Cr. This is the reason that KRK is no.1 trade analyst today.
Hope people still believe and think only KRK giving true figure unlike others 😆

Raees was an experience in itself. It has to be watched for Shahrukh's sheer presence on screen as he stands tall as Raees, larger than life.It has to be watched for his kohl eyed look and his charming gait, confidence in his stance and the fire in his eyes.It has to be watched for the way he romances Mahira, making those little scenes in between, a delight to watch. It has to be watched for the sheer chemistry between Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shahrukh Khan, yeah that's right cuz' when you saw them in one frame, you could glimpse the Sherlock and Moriarty they were to each other. It has to be seen for the one man that has poured his heart and soul to make Raees who he is. The man who has given his all.Yes Raees is a gangster, yes he does illegal business but no his business isn't religion. What a beautiful message but conveyed so effectively. And I can now see why Rahul Dholakia is known for his fine film making, Raees, a proof of the pudding. The entire cast be it Mohammed Ayub or Nawaz or even the other supporting roles were so aptly cast.I was pondering after the film as to why this film is so special. The story has been a been there done that thing, pretty much predictable to be honest then what makes it stand apart ? That's all Shahrukh Khan, ladies and gentlemen, as he bares his soul to the audience through the character of Raees. No, he shouldn't be glorified or even revered because he is a gangster after all, doing illegal business. But to that small community of his, he is everything. He is a gangster with a heart and again, this may not be new but it is Sharukh's innate charm and tremendous acting skills that makes you root for Raees till the very end. If I have to talk about Nawaz, I can write pages. He was just phenomenal, what a powerhouse actor he is. Hats off.👏All in all, a lovely film, worth a watch by even the non Shahrukh fans but Shahrukh fans, you guys are in for a treat ❤️ Songs were lovely, especially Dhingana and Saanson ke.My Rating-3.5/5
