Iran is not a country where women are considered equal to men... So in this respect I suspect Kangana from having felt such discrimination in his script. Asking to change it, but he refused as a big machismo would do...
I don't know why but I'm not surprised at all that she refuse such role, even from such prominent director...

She didn't need to make such publicity to get attentions... I don't know why you all think that this a PR operation...

We dont even know if its set in Iran or India. DP's look test was done near Dhobi Talao...and he is casting all Indians, so chances are that the story is based in India...

Also I dont think Majidi comes under the category of people doing gender discrimination, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Any personality will go to some extends to cover their reputation. If she really dismiss his offer, he won't look good for the others he will try to cast. By going public about it, she kind of cut his momentum in finding the right actress, at least in India...

Gender discrimination is not the issue here. But how the role of women is seen in society is... Kangana might have found this a bit too archaic for her taste, since her roles are all really progressive in nature... She's not going to play a conservative woman, that's for sure. And as far as I know, Iran is pretty conservative, women wise...

Kangana is not big enough of an actress on International level to say no to Oscar nominated director whose movies are thought provoking and festival favorite.

I wish he takes Radhika Apte who is truly talented.

Talent wise, totally believable. kangana is a chameleon who becomes the character from her normal self...ref..Queen, Datto. For Majidi that would be all important.

But Kanganas priorities seem to be fixed. She doesn't NEED another off beat film esp something like Majidis, I mean, come on, be honest, how many of us have seen a Majidi film? I haven't, I had to google him. I'm the average cinema goer. I think Kangana would probably want to do another commercial film which will be a big hit. And with offbeat movies that is always a gamble. She doesn't need an more critical acclaim for her acting. Rangoon doesn't seem like an out and out commercial film guaranteeing a hit, it seems more like a risky project made to satisfy the makers creativity than garnering box office success.

She seems to be bent on being known as hero of a film, going by her recent statements, even jostling with stalwarts like Saif and shahid for prominence in Rangoon. No way is she gonna play a lesser part in any film.

I think the film would be a feather in the cap for people like Sonam and sonakshi who could do with the prestige quotient of working with a Majidi and maybe alia who has years ahead making more commercial films to balance their quota of films.

Deepika has a commercial Padmavati so a Majidi would hv been a nice addition to her filmography without having to compromise on her saleability as a mainstream actress.

Don't you just feel like puking when now that Deepika is not taken even after prematurely posting her test pics, the whole bollywood heroines are getting pulled into the theme of she was considered but didn't end up getting the role.

First, it's Pee Cee.

Now it's Kangana.

Tomorrow another name will be taken to deflect from Deepikas being rejected. Just🤢
