While i do respect his personal choice and feel sad that he is mocked for it.
It doesnt make sense for him to point out at the country, cause this problems are faced by gay people, all over the world. Yes, our government is strict in these terms and it maybe wrong. But dont diss the whole country for that.

There are people like us, who aren't bothered by one's sexual orientation. You will get the mix of people everywhere and governments keep changing so whats the point of basing your views on them.

I empathise with him, but don't have much sympathy for me.

Here is why.

He has been through a lot of on the personal front, like being bullied for his weight and sexuality, so one would expect him to be mature and understand how others feel when they are put through the same thing.

BUT it's like he is the lonely kid who was bullied by the Shanayas and Poos of his school but instead of growing up to be individualistic and empathetic, he has just become the Gretchen to their Regina (Mean Girls reference).

He is not even repentant about the fact that he pushes star kids and those close to him before anyone else aka compromises on talent and takes pride in his snobbery and hubris. Just last week in the ShahMira episode, when Mira said, "You know I am a commoner and he is BW royalty...", he cut her off and was like, "But Shahid is not BW royalty". 😕 Then he tried to cover it up by saying Shahid's parents are nice but the so-called 'lineage' does not exist blah blah.

Shows us what he actually thinks of outsiders. Harping on about lineage, beauty etc make him seem shallow though I know he is actually not that superficial. He understands a lot, but like many, chooses to not really challenge the status quo and more so, maintain and proliferate it.

I also think he only has soft spots for those he considers 'worthy of his affection' like Kajol, Alia, Kareena, Sid etc. He weighs a lot of factors before deciding to like a person. Either they have to be insiders (in which case he has no standards) or extremely beautiful, successful, privileged in other ways.
