Pardon my ignorance , but wasn't fan a low budget niche movie that made good money ?
It wasn't commercial like Dilwale and it won critical acclaim and met its BO potential. So what's the conflict here?

It didn't. In proportion to its budget it failed. A flop.

Dangal is a brilliantly made movie, multiple time watch movie, Fan I had to watch all the meaningless chase scenes in fast forward mode even during the first time watch !!

Let's not compare an apple and a rotten cucumber.

I watched Fan, but did not understand what it wanted to convey (may be, it was for niche audience). Dangal samajh mein aaya (whether I agree with father's training or not).

Fan is not a bad film but it was neither a good film. It would have been better if it stayed artsy.But the makers were not brave enough to pull it off..In the movie hero fights like superman to superhero pe movie banao na !!! Also I think though SRK played Aryan Khan very well, Gaurav was not up to the mark with that horrendous vfx..
