Did he treat his children in Dangal like slaves?
Sounds exaggerated.

I totally agree but then both the movies have different concepts and story.
Dangal is not a fictional movie.Mahavir must have done the same with his daughters and that's why these scenes were shown in the movie.

If Dangal was a fictional movie, everyone would have questioned this.

One more thing. This movie is set in a small village in haeyana and not a metro like Delhi or Mumbai. Most gals in villages of haryana are married off at an early age and they are not asked whether they want to marry or not. This movie gave this message that gals should be encouraged by their parents to work hard and make a career rather than getting them married at an early age.

This is a real life story, must have happened that way and the Phogats wouldn't want their life to be portrayed in a wrong manner so they would have okayed it before the movie released. Also, no he wasn't treating them as 'slaves' but one has to watch the movie first to verify this. Really, the things people say just for the sake of saying! SMH.

not surprised that boycott dangal was trending on twitter 😆...have serious doubts that he has even watched the film, looks more like he is assuming from the trailers...
Farhan was an avg student who didn't have any interest in engineering...he was passionate abt photography...the Dangal girls didn't have any such interests...their father worked on them only after he discovered their potential in wrestling(this is wht is missing in that guy's comment)...the story is set in Haryana where the mental attitude of the society is that the girls r only good for cooking and should get married early...

this is a biopic and not some fiction...

Due to their achievements Balali village today is known as Geeta,Babita,Vinesh and Ritu's village...

It reads as international women wrestlers Geeta,Babita,Vinesh and Ritu Phogat's village Balali welcomes you...

I had seen a post like that before seeing the film
And my first thought was that if he had not pushed then into wrestling, they would have probably ended living their whole lives in the village unappreciated in their homes
It was funny that they actually had to give the same exposition in the movie

The circumstances and the contexts are remarkably different. Madhavan's character had no interest in engineering and he had the resources to explore other options. given his lack of interest or flair in the film I doubt he would have managed something. The girls though had a knack for wrestling and it was their best option.

i completely agree with parents should encourage their kids but that doesnt mean they impose their dreams on kids ...had they encourage them in the fields their kids want then it would be more appreciable ..

good that if kids are shone in the field but putting pressure on them and forcing them to fulfil parents dream is more bothersome !!in real life i see how kids feel pressure when parents are strict and force them to do what they r not willing to do ! but well..
