Befikre, directed by Aditya Chopra starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor released last week. The film which tells a rather unconventional love story made all the right moves prior to its release. In this special report we take a look at the overall profitability of Befikre to its makers. Given the production cost of Rs. 70 cr (CoPRs. 55 cr + P &ARs. 15 cr) the makers of the film have made Rs. 20.03 cr as profit with a 28.61% rate of Return on Investment.

However, given that this analysis is based on the opening weekend collections of Befikre, the probable final profit the makers of the film will stand to make is estimated to be approximately Rs. 40 cr.

My review

Contains spoilers

As movie has been nearly done and dusted, I can't be called a conspirator 😆. So I hope I am allowed to give my review.

Good things first

1) Vaani Kapoor. This girl dances like a dream, acts very well and also looks good. Don't go by promos, coz it had only her worst looks.

Move away Katrina, we have a better dancer who can act.

She owns the character, makes audience root for us. Watch her expressions in opening scene when RS calls her a s**t. That's solid acting, without any loud OTT drama .

5/5 to her for acing the accent . She owns the audience and makes us root for her.

2) Paris - Its free Paris tourism. That top of Eiffel Tower proposal was like most romantic proposal in world !!

3) Shyra's Mom and Dad were ace !! I wish to see her mom in more movies. She was hilarious in DDD.

4) RS - He is playing his loud self. But he hams in emotional scenes and that butt show wasn't necessary at all !! Still he manages to do this shitty role with utmost sincerity. He is intelligent enough to know that this wasn't going to work. It never shows on his performance. A job is a job and one has to give 200% to it. RS managed to show his dedication towards the job.

Bitter Truth

Its a bad movie. When you have a predictable story, TREATMENT counts. We all know that Shayra and Dharam will end up together, we wanted to see a beautiful journey.

YRF made a beautiful movie on live in - Salaam Namaste. Why did they not lift the ideas from there? Two different personalities sharing a house brings so many troubles !! They concentrated on just irritating each other by switching on and off the lights!!

Getting back as friends and their love story with others wasn't convincing at all.

Lots of homophobic jokes and cliched things like Dharam gets back to sex life and Shyra doesn't. But its how men and women react, so I'll let it go. Many can't.

Climax was most horrible thing in BW. Even DDD's climax looks decent after watching this.

Last Word

There was no need of a so many kissing scenes or nudity in the story. There was no need for "I dare you" and criminal things they end up doing in name of dare. It all could have ended in a super fun movie if these two characters had a story that we can relate to.

Its all Adi's fault. Not watching any movie that he directs till it has strong WOM.

Befikre went down on Tuesday as collections fell 25-30% from the previous day and the film went to low levels. The Monday numbers were decent but was due to the minor holiday for Eid-E-Milad which seems to have boosted collections by 10-15% on Monday going by the business on Tuesday. The film grossed in the 3.50-3.75 crore nett range on Tuesday which is a low collection. There is no major competition this week but this drop makes a real dent in the chances of the film put up solid second week numbers. The collections fell over with bigger falls in areas that got benefit of the mini holiday on Monday. In places like Rajasthan the holiday was on Tuesday so collections did not drop there. The first five day business of the film is as follows.

Saturday 11,50,00,000

Sunday 12,50,00,000

Monday 5,25,00,000

Tuesday - 3,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 43,25,00,000 apprx

The first week business of the film will be around 49 crore nett which is on the lower side and the second week will probably struggle to put up a decent number even though there is no real competition as far as multiplex business is concerned.
