I think Ranbir and Fawad are both good actors. Fawad takes his craft very seriously. Ranbir used to. But the difference is that Ranbir has become complacent and lost any zeal to do anything new now as an actor. With Fawad that is not the case. On what sort of respect Fawad commands in Pakistan:

Fawad belongs to a country where art and artists are looked at as people who are not the best examples to follow. Incidentally Ranbir and Fawad debuted in films in the same year. Fawad's Pakistani film was released in India too and he always wanted to pursue films and come and try his luck in BW. The unfortunate 26/11 attacks made him drop his plans and he shifted to TV. He was almost selected for the movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist but was dropped suddenly for reasons best know to the director. Here is the proof by Mira Nair herself:

TV was never what he wanted to do. He always wanted to be a film actor and music is his first love. Pakistani film industry even now though seeing a revival is nothing to boast about yet so anyone wanting to have a proper career would try his luck in BW. Dont we all do the same? Scientists, doctors and engineers from India continue to settle in USA/UK. Do we mock them for it? Or do we expect them to learn from the best and come and share their know-how with us. In a forum filled with NRIs I am surprised that pursing better prospects is a source of mockery here.

And how do people in Pakistan react to Fawad now? Dont believe me or Pakistani fan of another actor. But do believe the media there who I believe will be fairer:

One of the most well-attended and interesting session was with film and TV actor Fawad Khan.

The hall was jam-packed with Fawad's fans. Moderated by Adeel Hashmi the chit-chat with Mr Khan went informal. Khan was happy to see such a massive audience having a large number of females. As he entered the hall, he was received by a thunderous round of applause and many wolf whistles.

Is this how you welcome someone you hate or disrespect? Fawad doesnt have a father fighting his battles with everyone else or GFs to hide behind for publicity. Everything he has achieved he has done on his own. Majority of us being in similar position as him should respect him for what he has achieved instead of mocking him.

Ranbir has got 2 votes more than Fawad right now. How has the thread backfired? I would suggest that stop laughing at people going thru a bad time for no fault of theirs. Karma comes back to bite those to make fun of such people.
