It could might edge past shivaay in terms of initial but dare shivaay receives tremendous word of mouth adhm will certainly struggle to break even. Agree shivaay looks dark and humourless but also has some very good action scenes and could might be one of the most visually delightful films ever.

Plus the core theme is a father daughter relation which always appeal to the majority if presented well.

Even BM was dark andelamcholuc with a sad ending but the fact that love story worked with public folm defeated a perfect family entertainer.

Same can be the case here.

In terms of the actors, yes Ajay has starpower, maybe more than Ranbir. I'm not sure.

But in terms of directors is where ADHM can pull ahead. As srkat pointed out, this is Ajay's second time as a director. He's a good actor no doubt, but is he a good director? His previous movie was a flop. And he's against KJo who's had experience as well as hits.

And for ADHM, brand KJo has more awareness than brand Ranbir, so comparing Ajay with Karan is the correct comparison IMO.

@you2 actually I don't recall ever overestimating Ranbir's film 😕 In fact I really underestimated the box office potential of Barfi and YJHD. For SRK and Kat though, yes I agree, and I thank a large part for that is just because they have been my two favourites over the years (as my name suggests 😆). I'm a Ranbir fan as well but just don't recall overestimating his films!

@MoonBow I did talk about ADHM's theatrical trailer!

@ranbeer_jazz yes, Singham Returns did collect 32 crores on day 1, but the film had a lot more pre-release buzz due to Singham franchise, Rohit Shetty as director, and Kareena Kapoor as the female lead. The film's opening day was a national holiday and had a solo release!

People comparing it to YJHD are in for a rude shock. The film looks so depressing, the three hit songs are all depressing too. I'm not sure who wants to go and be depressed on Diwali. Shivay has the same problem. Two depressing releases on Diwali. I think they both underperform but Shivay should have the bigger opening.
