There are plenty of people in India who know how to differentiate between artists and terrorists. There are plenty of us who know that what has happened in the past few weeks has nothing to do with Mahira or Fawad or any other artist from Pakistan who's working in Bollywood. Yes, there are some oh so "patriotic" journalists on television who'll shout and scream to make everyone think their word is the only word out there but that ain't true.

I hope this is not true! This would be pathetic decision to say the least if it's true! And this is coming from someone who has been eagerly waiting for Raees ever since the teaser came out but I definitely don't support a ridiculous decision like this i.e if it's true. People are living in a fool's paradise if they think replacing Mahira or Fawad is the solution here. Infact these folks would be setting a bad precedent if they end up doing that (again if it's true). Today it's about artists from Pakistan, tomorrow it'd be about the storyline or the theme of the movie, where would this stop! Not to mention Shahrukh has already faced this bull with MNIK and Dilwale and he stood his ground on both occasions. So it'd end up reflecting him in an extremely poor light if he is on board with a decision like this i.e IF this is true.

No, I think the anger against Pak right now is very much genuine and a reality among Indians (speaking from personal experience all around me)..it's not manufactured by 'nationalists' or journalists. Media can create a hullaboo but people aren't stupid enough to get swayed by it unless they themselves already agree. This anger has been built up over the years...Uri attack was basically a breaking point like 26/11 was.

I also think people are smart enough to understand that this is not a solution to the problem, that Fawad/Mahira aren't responsible...art is a soft target...that these movies have mainly Indian folks and it's only Indians who are going to suffer because of whatever happens. Pak artists get banned? Ok whatever...they'll get work in Pak like they always used to..big deal. Who actually suffers? The Indian cast and crew. I think people also realize that soldiers don't care what movie anyone is watching or whose in it...and they have bigger and more important worries. We can support soldiers in other more helpful ways. I think people also realize that spreading hateful propaganda doesn't do anything in the long run..after all united we stand, divided we fall. Everyone knows MNS/SS are just goondas. But I think people see these protests as a symbol of their displeasure and a symbol of being united with the Army/India.

Personally, I think there are better ways to show support..but I understand the anger. I think if they really want to ban, they should make it permanent. This back and forth is annoying.

It's not MNS/SS who are responsible for these bans/replacements. The common people also are too supporting these bans as far as I have heard. Two days ago, I heard almost everyone talking about boycotting these people and it was not because of these political parties forcing them to do so. I remember in 2011-12, MNS tried to create trouble on streets and Jab Tak Hai Jaan and SoS were getting affected by it. People still went out and nobody was worried about them as police took control of the situation. This time things are different and people are seriously not interested in having any friendly relationship with a country that only thinks of destroying India and its citizens. It's not the hatred shown only to artists but trades too have been affected.

Soft/ hard/ art/ culture: Symbols are necessary to express the feelings
Never before has the idea of ban so strictly imposed on cultural exchange.

This is the symbol of the lack of the faith and anger of the common people.

And unless they are allowed some sort of vent it will just backfire.

Nobody has suggested that this will stop terror. Putting an end to cultural ties is a way to voice displeasure.
Having said that, the ban should only apply to new films, not films like Raees that have been completed already.

You know we want them to have no self respect and stay/work here even after all the insults, name calling. I repeat it again all these will be shameless morons if they ever return again to have a career in bw.

Umm..this is not something that common citizens have come up with! This whole agenda about banning artists from Pakistan started with the MNS and SS saying so on record. Is that sentiment supported by some? I'm sure it's! But this notion that everyone and their brother supports it is far from the truth. Nowhere can it be called a majority decision! These are parties who even have an issue with a artist like Nawaz playing a role in a Ram-Leela! Elections are coming up in quite a few states so the shrill will get even louder when it comes to such parties and their communal agenda. Fortunately, there are still voices in India who can see right through their divisive agendas. Who know the solution here ain't banning artists from a particular country.
I also happen to disagree that folks can't get swayed! Hell yeah..they can. What happened with Dilwale shows how easily people can get swayed. How easy its these days to manufacture an agenda! How easy it's to make it seem like it's the only agenda and how quickly people can fall for it. Which is why I'm stating let people decide if they want to go out there and watch a ADHM or not. Why are these parties threatening if they're so confident that people genuinely wouldn't go out to watch a ADHM because it happens to have Fawad in it.

I live in India and I'm in college and none of my learned counterparts think banning Pakistani artists is the way to go, and this is also coming from those who don't even watch movies to begin with.

A huge deal of the so called outrage is just manufactured subterfuge.
