Amazon Prime Video has confirmed the development of Season 2 of The Traitors India, following the strong reception and widespread viewer engagement since its debut on June 12. The show is hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and is an adaptation of the international reality format developed by IDTV and distributed by All3Media International.
According to Amazon Prime Video, the Indian edition has been viewed in over 88 percent of Indian pin codes, indicating wide reach and popularity. The platform also reported that conversations around the show have grown rapidly on social media, pointing to active viewer participation in real time speculation and analysis of the show’s events.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the show has connected with viewers through its structure and format. He credited the dynamic among the celebrity participants and the hosting style of Johar for helping build sustained interest. He also confirmed that development for a new season is already underway.
The first season features 20 celebrity contestants including actors, influencers, musicians and creators such as Anshula Kapoor, Karan Kundrra, Jannat Zubair, Uorfi Javed, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jasmin Bhasin, Raj Kundra and Raftaar. The format of the show involves a mix of players known as Faithfuls and a small number designated as Traitors. The objective is to identify and eliminate the Traitors before they eliminate the others.
So far, Raj Kundra, Lakshmi Manchu, Sahil Salathia, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra and Raftaar have been eliminated. However, two players remain secretly assigned as Traitors—Elnaaz Norouzi and Purav Jha—information that is still hidden from the other contestants.
With the renewal now confirmed, The Traitors India joins the growing list of international adaptations of the format, which has versions in more than 30 countries. As Prime Video expands its unscripted content catalogue, the show has emerged as a central title in its programming lineup.
Further details about casting and production for Season 2 are yet to be announced.
