Katrina Kaif: Can always bank on Salman, but want to prove myself as an actor
What an imaginary conversation with Katrina Kaif post the Baar Baar Dekho debacle might look like.
Reacting to the trolls on her bagging the prestigious Smita Patil award, actor Katrina Kaif said she has no hard feelings for her critics.
"After the audience failed to appreciate my last movie Baar Baar Dekho, I thought nobody will talk about me now. I am happy that's not the case," the actor chirped.
On her last movie, Katrina said the movie was way ahead of its time and therefore people failed to understand its deeper meaning. "I had given the movie everything. My washboard abs, bikini scenes and what not, and still it didn't do well. I know I can always bank on Salman but I want to prove myself as an actor, and I am determined to do so," Katrina said.
She said the award is a recognition of her hard work. "Tell me one British actor who can speak Hindi as fluently as me. I may not be a born actor but I try, try, and try until I have completely diluted the director's vision and made the character my own," said the actor, who is now preparing for her next movie wherein she plays a girl who is not allowed to speak.
"No, I am not playing a deaf and mute girl. This is a very challenging and interesting role. The role requires me to not utter a single word. Of course, there will quite a few dance numbers. I am training hard for this project," an excited Katrina told us.
On getting an award named after a legendary actor, Katrina said the experience is "humbling". "I have great respect for Smita Patilji. I know she is the mother of Prateik Babbar. Prateik is a dear friend, and I feel honoured to receive the award."
