What nonsense is the notion that only showing kissing or kissing in public is a sign of progression?
Real progression is not being judgemental towards different views. If people like kisses, good for them. If some people don't, don't term them regressive and conservative.

with a kissing scene there is a backlash, but adults take their little kids to watch movies in the theatre with songs like this 😆😆 no backlash for the sake of kids 😕

Songs like this and movies which are very violent and push all sorts of negative ideologies are fine, but a kiss! Haila, no way.

I would call songs like Dhak Dhak Karne Laga and Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hain far more provocative than this song from Befikre. This song is not at all provocative. I feel the reaction it's getting is more because a kiss is indeed taboo in most minds.

Again, its clearly a matter of preferences? You fell kissing is fine, someone else will feel something else is fine...Let the viewer decide, no? As long as no one is forced to watch what they don't like, we are all good...

Yes, people can decide for themselves.

I was simply pointing out that songs like Channe Ke Khet Mein which glamorise rape are all fine and dandy, but not this song which shows consensual physical affection between individuals.

It's okay if people don't like it. I think it's mainly because kissing is taboo in most people's minds. That's my opinion.

Who said 'chane ke khet' was fine? I read articles where they trashed such songs...(sorry, I for one don't know what the song is about as I never watched it)

And yes...public/onscreen kissing is a taboo! Its a taboo even in the Hollywood and the world over...Otherwise there won't be so much talk about it!

kissing imo is pretty sweet, when there is love, kissing is beautiful😳we are made to see kissinng as something gross but i find it natural. I do'nt like the way couples are tagged characterless or arrested if caught kissing,i mean what's so bad about a kiss😕People who do'nt like it have all the right to their opinion, same goes for people who like it.I personally feel kissing is unnecessarily taken in a bad light here, but i also understand not everyone can be comfortable with that and thats ok also unless they try to change others opinion and thopofy their opinion on others.Kissing in movies if shown beautifully, and as a natural part of the plot and lives of the chracters, its ok imo.

Kissing is not a taboo but I see what you are saying. There is still a hush-hush , moral judgement attached to it in South Asia .Especially when you attach the word "moral" to it. PDA is an entirely different concept. People would change channels if there is kissing on-screen or any sensual scene. Personal choice yes but there is no denying the moral or shame attached to it , generally in desi culture. Like wearing skirt or not wearing it is a personal choice but traditionally and at large a person wearing it is judged.
This song or sequence is set in Paris with a different social sensibilities , nobody is going to stare or a crowd be there. Nor will Police come to pick you up for indecency. Unlike South Asia - there is the taboo part of it.

In terms of cinematic representation, i guess it doesn't really matter if there is kissing or not, if the movie lacks a story or a connect. A montage of random kisses might be there for titillation in a society which is hush-hush about it. So see the crass intent. But a story where kissing doesn't seemed to be inserted to draw cheap cheers is normal.

You like watching kissing or not is a personal choice, moral judgement shouldn't be there ,either ways. But sadly , it is there.
