Movies in bollywood has evolved.. compared to 70s or
90s ya even early 2000, we have better content movies... there
are more female centric movies... even potboilers now has
failed.. even khans are looking for good scripts.. so bollywood
has progressed! mujhe lagta nahi hai in terms of content.. but
with nepotism shayad.. there is less talent in the pool... but there will be revolution and it will progress from here too.. it'll take time but it'll happen! aisa mera manna hai! :)

so which age do you think produced better films and actors than the current age? I always see posts like these and it is not that I am disagreeing but sometimes I have no idea what people are comparing it too. I grew up watching movies from the 90s and early 2000s. Compared to that I think the movies are fantastic, the current lot of actors who are good are quite good.

"Mediocre actors- I feel ordinary performances get lauded and celebrated these days. People are so used to sub par performances that anything that hovers above the average mark becomes 'super se upar'. Female actors need to be prototypes- light skinned, tall and conventionally good-looking. Very little importance given to acting chops. "

Agree with this, the amount of praise, hype subpar performance, actors and movies get is baffling

BW 's been mediocre for a while now.
Where are the interesting stories, where are the charismatic actors who can actually act and make movie watching a pleasure?
Where are the Bandini's and the Khamoshi's,the Nutans and the Waheeda Rehmans?
Where are the tall men and why are most Indian hero's so effing short?

Well said ---- i feel it has sorta become fashion to diss bollywood movies --- while i find current movies (only movies actors are on par) better than back in the time ---- storyline dialogues gave gotten less regressive --- females are leading the pack ---- comparing bollywood only, i am with u --- !!!!!
end of the day ----- movies that sell more are made --- audience will have varied taste --- can't go around accusing audience of having mediocre taste ---- audience likes what they like --- *😛*

^^^

It's always been fashionable to diss BW movies, every decade people say previous decades movies were better

I think TM is saying (I could be wrong) the hype and over praising has become too much nowadays and I agree...

And agree 90s, 2000s movie were no better maybe in some ways worse

But I don't think that applies to movies until 70s, we got much better but simpler stories and performances from both male and female actors back then, budgets were paltry compared to the humongous budgets now, facilities were much less and technically things are equal to HW now, which was not the case then.

Yes and No

Why yes? I agree with a few things being said such as, there are a lot of mediocre actors/actresses and they all need to look a certain way.
A lot of mainstream appeal is that sex sells. Item songs are big and more skin, the better. Which I find cheap in a way but whatever... I think these things have been around for a while though. I mean, haven't most actors and actresses in bollywood have to be fair, tall and attractive to make it big? Not saying all are, but MOST are (or at least they have done things to look that way).

Why no? Again, so many things that are looked at as bad have been going on for a few decades now. I do think there is some improvement on stories (here and there). We are starting to see older actresses work with the younger heros and its refreshing and interesting. There are more female oriented roles. Some films even go on touchy subjects and add a realness to films. Which I know not everyone wants to see. And that's okay.

I do however feel the masala, stereotypical films get old and stupid. But I know so many love that and it won't ever die.
