i think lot of bad movies were made even before..and there were some timeless gems too..the difference now is a lot of money is spent on promoting a mediocre movie...the hype and all is just so much even before the movie releases..that the actual experience of watching it is underwhelming comparatively...
the flying jatt for instance...initially when the title track came..the kiddos in our family were all going gaga over tiger..even the adults were like we will take the kids to watch the movie..but then everyday since the newspapers were full of tiger shroff...his dancing movies..his martial arts skill and even his alleged affair..and the novelty wore off...
my point is the current lot of actors incl star kids are not that bad infact they are more prepared ..focussed and trained but they are promoted as the next big thing after just two releases and when u actually see them act...u realise they are nothing worth the hype...its not that they can't get better but the hype around them is just too much..and consequently they are also written off too soon...
previously it was not so..even amitabh bachchan had a huge list of failures but never was he written off prematurely nor was he hyped as the big star initially as he turned out to be later...film making has become too commercial than before thats why mediocrity has set in..
also i feel the number of female oriented movies have again dwindled down...i find very few really good performers among women comparatively than before
however the good part is there are still good low budget movies made..like nil battey sannata which was an amazing movie and was a hit too...they have their own audience thanks to twitter and other social media...plus actors like nawazuddin and rajkumar rao , swara bhaskar are getting movies as leads which was not possible before..
so its not all bad...its also what kind of movies u are watching..
