MEB - My best guess is that to show off how close RK is to Neetu mom, she just went on to say things that were imaginary. She didn't realize how stupid it all sounds . I haven't seen that interview. But sometimes when teenage sons are in hurry, mommies force them to sit n cut their nails LOL

RR its not about teenage sons
It continued when Ranbir was a star
I read that interview and Neetu took pride in cutting his toenails and giving pocket money..Giving pocket money is still ok but cutting nail is weird u know..She is clingy to Ranbir and Ranbir wants to break out without hurting her much..Thats what it seems to me..

Why do u feel mama boy is an insult that haters throw at him? Its not wrong to be close to their mum. Im extremely close to my mum and if someone calls me mummy ki chamchi I would gladly accept that tag. Btw have u seen the insulting names some members come out for Kangy? Psycho and all. Its not funny at all to mock on someone's mental health and yet people never stopped name calling her that way.

Neetu is clingy and RK is making efforts to break out without hurting her. Then how does that make RK mumma's boy?

Anywho.. that toe nail cutting could just be reference. They were just trying to imply they are close and went Lil far away is doing so. I wouldn't take that at face value.

And if people expect RK to say something remotely indirectly against Neetu, then they are being funny. Coz he has never given any explanation. He doesn't even respond to some serious accusations thrown at him by his gfs. So forget about him saying something to hurt his mom.

Will not go as far as calling it a oedipal complex because that's a serious allegation. But I have seen women who suffer from bad marriage, get insanely obsessed to kids.
As someone said, RK is not actually mamma's boy. He hardly abides by mommy's instructions! About the pocket money bit...you are being naive if you believe that. A man earning crores take pocket money from mom? Yeah right in mars!

I agree with the "feeling for NK" bit. I do too. But it's must be so stifling to live with someone like Neetu, however much she might love him. I reckon it's navet to not believe words that come straight from the horse's mouth- She has proudly spoken about how he still takes pocket money from her despite earnings yes, Crores. As for the Oedipal complex, well, from my observation & experience, it's far more common in S East Asia/India than what we imagine. The varying degrees of it, to be specific. Their whole relationship, from a layman's POV, reeks of at the least, a strong co-dependency, even if One does not agree to the Oedipal Complex bit. It's sad. But there it is.

R2: No that's not how I would perceive it. It's super-weird & creepy & for most sons, would probably would push the son away. Personally, if it was me, I woudlve felt suffocated & completely helmed in & would start spending less time with her even if I love my mother deeply. Might not be the case with RK, definitely would be with me & many youngsters that I've seen. There comes a time in life, when parents need to let go but S East Asian parents/Indian etc parents, seem to have a far harder time in letting go, than parents of other nationalities, I reckon b/c generally, they make the children their Life & many times, seek/have no other interests. These are just attempts to rationalise such behaviour, the reality I am not aware of. But this is certainly my experience.. And it's terribly sad, suffocating & makes the child feel like, well, a child. Lol.. Mustn't be encouraging at the age of 30+ Usually is not.. That's all I was saying.

Niyati: Not what I thought/intuited/implied. It is RK who has mentioned atleast in 1 interview I remember reading , about how he used to sit on the steps at home & listen to his parents fighting hard/screaming etc. And how his mother used to confess to him her marital problems.

Kat24/7: I don't mean to talk about the sexual aspect of the Oedipal complex, but rather the first women mentality & severe co-dependency it brings. I think that needed to be cleared before people criticise or worse, verbally pounce on me, lol.

MEB - I agree on this part. Many Indian parents forget to let live their son and daughters when they come to age..Its not about involvement. Of course they have every right to know whats happening in their lives or they should be free to make advice. But forcing children following their advice, abandoning their own, being hurtful when the decisions are not respected, pushing suggestion in each and every matter not only suffocates but also doesn't let the child learn to be independent emotionally. I know many people who just wants to break free but suffers every moment because they think what parents would think, how they will react. The problem is the minute a lady here gives birth she forgets her life, her friends, her family and even her husband and gets completely absorbed in raising the child and when the child grows up and started having his/her own life the mother feels lonely and tries more to bind him..After a point of time the grown up child started having bitterness which is not good for relationships
