Hello IFians,
I am sorry to quit IF with such a bitter post but I think there is no other way. I should post it and should have done long back but neglected it.
Actually, I joined in IF around in 2011. At that time I was so naive to think that people come to forums are any social media to share Ideas, fun, and make friends. When I saw the replies and gandhagi they spread, I was shocked and then I quit.
Again 4 months back, I started to take active part in Bollywood thread thinking that,the 5 years I am away from IF, I have matured a lot and likewise people in IF also would have matured and now the forum would have to be more pleasant. Alas! how wrong IAm. Nothing has changed yaar. Not a single thing
What I felt sad was,to think hat our parents who sweat blood and send us to English convents to learn Kindness, compassion and gain unbiased knowledge and use our own brains, would think when they read some comments we post here.
When we comment on a celebrity, why we forget that they are also normal human beings like us. They have emotions, heart that hurts when somebody say bad about them. They may not come to IF and read all the threads are all the comments, but even if one celebrities relation like brother, sister, mother or father reads them, how bad they would feel.
Who are we to pass a judgement/comment on the celebrities with the half baked truths we know?
If we comment for in a post for knowledge sake and and have fun in a funny way, then there is no wrong in it. But to be viscous and savage in ur comments, trying to hurt someone, some fan is not at all acceptable. I have seen people who are viscous, cynics and bashful for the sake of bashing on this forum. I really feel so bad foe them. Nope, I don't hate them, I jus pity them.
5 months b4 coming to the forum, I never know what is a blind. I never thought there is PR included in every move a celeb makes. I used to take everything at face value and feel happy in celebs happiness and sad about thier sadness. I never used to open a gossip sheet. I used to believe that there is good in every human, even in celebs.
Now, after 5 months in IF, when I look back at this 5 months, I am feeling ashamed about myself. I am feeling so bad that I said that all and posted so and so comments To be frank, I never posted a viscous comment or a degrading comment on a post about any celebs. I always maintained a funny sort of replies and felt everyone are my friends whichever fandom they might belong, on the whole we are IFians. Even in that case also, I am feeling ashamed about the 5 months I have spent here.
After joining again in IF, I understood what is MASS MANIA. Yep, IF is the big example of mass mania, along with 50 people whose comments or viscious, who dissect celebs personal lives and who do personal attacks on celebs (celebs Who never done any harm to u and me) who calls names, I have become one of them. I have started to go with the flow and started saying things, commenting on celebs, which I wpuld never have done otherwise.
So, now I afraid that I am becoming someone who is not me. Someone I don't want to be. So, I quit IF.
Last but not least, all the cynic, viscous, savage IFIANS out there, when a 28 year old matured girl could not save from becoming same as u, what chance has the youngsters of 18 yrs or 20 yrs naive green eyed boys/girls have?
OH cynic IFians, every comment u make is influencing someone, show pls jus think 2 sec before u comment. Think u would talk in the same manner, if the talked about celeb is ur friend, sister, brother whoever it is. With ur every negative comment, u r making young cynic/vicious person out there. Its on ur conscience.
Every one comes to IF to comment. Do it, but do it for fun, do it for gaining some knowledge, do it for making friends.Whoever u may like, whoever maybe u r fan of, they, the celebs are outsiders and IF is a family like and u never fight with ur friends, brothers and sister for outsiders.
