5 clues hidden in Ranveer Singh's poster of Padmavati that say a lot about Alauddin Khilji

As Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer Singh is every bit striking and dangerous as the makers intend him to be.

And he's here! Ranveer Singh arrived this morning as the menacing Delhi emperor, Alauddin Khilji, with the new posters of Padmavati, that have taken Twitter by storm. As you are probably aware, Ranveer Singh is taking on a negative role for the first time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus. The interesting bit is that his real-life paramour, Deepika Padukone, who plays the titular role of Padmavati, will be paired opposite Shahid Kapoor, while Ranveer is shown lusting after her in this doomed tale of love and obsession.

As Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer Singh is every bit striking and dangerous as the makers intend him to be. And if you observe the posters a bit more carefully, you will notice more traits about his character. Here are five such observations we found about his personality from the posters.

The scars

I had checked out a few portraits of Alauddin Khilji but none of them showed the scars that are below Ranveer's left eye, as seen in the above poster. While they do give him that menacing look, we wonder if they were a personal touch of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. If so, we wonder if Shahid Kapoor's Maharawal Ratan Singh was responsible for the scars.

The vanity

The way Ranveer Singh lovingly gazes at his own reflection in the mirror shows that more than Padmavati, the man is obsessed with himself. His vanity could even give many of our Bollywood celebs a run for their money. Narcissism can be the new N-word after nepotism now.

The chest hair

No matter what role they take on, Bollywood heroes often have the habit of taking off their shirts to show off chiseled bodies. Ranveer Singh also stays true to this obsession, however, unlike his previous shirtless appearances, he is sporting chest hair here. This kinda makes sense taking the period in consideration since body-waxing is a modern thing. This is also what Hrithik Roshan should have done when he did that bare-bodied sword practicing in Jodha Akbar.

The lime green gem obsession

The Sultans of Delhi were obsessed with bright green gems that often adorned their crowns. Glad to see that the designers of Padmavati have taken note of this fact when they made that awesome looking crown-cap for Khilji.

He is a Villain. Period.

Before the posters of Padmavati came out, there were often accusations thrown out at director Sanjay Leela Bhansali by fringe groups like Rajput Karni Sena that he would romanticise the equation between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji. The primary reason being, the characters are played by the real-life couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. However, the posters of Ranveer Singh have thrown all those speculations out of the window, since it can be clearly seen that SLB is more interested in giving him that mean streak than making him SRK of the Khilji dynasty! That lustful obsession in his eyes, as he cools himself in the pool is hint enough!
