seems alia is the best thing about the movie..she won the best reviews followed by diljit

shahid has surprisingly won mixed reviews where as many have not even mentioned kareena

I didn't come across any negative reviews. Maybe not reading all of em ... Public is praising Shahid as much as Alia.

Udta Punjab Heading For Good First Day

Udta Punjab is looking at a solid day one with collections with around 10 crore nett as per early estimates. The number is a big one for a dark film which is off beat. The film has been helped by huge collections in Delhi city and East Punjab with a contribution of around 4 crore nett from both.

The other markets have seen lower business but still its still pretty decent and better than most films released this year. The business is dominated by multiplexes especially the high collecting ones. The controversy has helped but not a lot outside North India.

Udta Punjab has got a good day one number and now it will be about holding these numbers as the initial is the type which these sort of films don't get. If Delhi city and East Punjab hold tomorrow at these high levels the film will be through.

I think Alia was the best thing about the film I don't even like her because of her offscreen personality but onscreen she's a firework. This is her best performance till date she's improving with each passing movies going.

Diljit and Kareena were fab too, Shahid was amazing but this isn't his best performance he was better in Kaminey and Haider.

The film started abit slow but got better later on, story could have been better but the good performances from the 4 actors lifted the film.

I do not agree with majority of the reviews, mainly with regards to Alia's performance. I did not like it that much . it was okay.maybe it's the HIGHWAY hangover, but the acting is eerily similar, nothing new or -never-seen-before. it's okay considering the sketchy depictions of other 3 leads. the character was very well written, perhaps the most well written character in the film.

Diljit's performance was the one I loved, followed by shahid's and kareena's.

as a couple, diljit and kareena was fab, wanted to see them together, but the ending shocked me. was not expecting it at all.

best couple scene -when diljit is under influence, he and kareena together lit up the screen.😳

shahid's best maniac scene- in the recording room right after the contract was cancelled. the 4 fools together grooving to the tune, that scene.

that piss scene should not have been cut--infact the entire film was so well made, that cutting even 1 scene would tamper with the film. that scene was very essential in showing his transformation, the reason as to why he did it.

over all 4 stars/5. .5 extra for diljit's performance

big draw back: 80% of the film is in Punjabi, missed out a lot on dialogues, had to guess my way through.

SPOILER QUESTION:

what did Diljit do with his brother in the end? would he go to jail or did he go along with the

cover up that was carried out by the minister initially..?

UDTA PUNJAB is shockingly beautiful and surpassingly influencing.

The movie brings you to the verge of closing your eyes seeing young boys lying half conscious in ruins like pieces of garbage. This is when you see something from a distance and realise how serious and dangerous the situation is. Cant believe the Censor Board was agasint this.

Udta Punjab is a PERFECT example of how to bring a burning issue to the light of common public. People dont watch heavy art films, they dont. full stop.

If you want to educate you have to teach them in a way that they will listen to.

A beautiful story with brilliant characters. All four of them lifted up the story on therir shoulders. Just brilliant performers.

Starting from Shahid, He was tommy singh in and out. He was living the role to the pro, but i am not surprised to see him pull off this role brilliantly. After seeing him in Haider, you can expect him to do this role flawlessly.

Kareena - oh she was perfect. she looked beautiful and she was perfect. As the smart educated young fierce doctor who wants to bring a change and i was amazed at the way she pulled off punjabi .. but the end .. i was shocked ..

Diljit was BRILLIANT. The innocence, the love struck eyes, the elder brother in shock, and the ending. He is such an effortless performer.

and now the best part - Alia Bhaat. This girl is the next superstar. Like she is born with it and you cant help but praise her. Her character is the synonymous with the message. She doesn't give in to drugs. She ties up her stomach to fight the urge, and in the end manages to move out of the clutches of the menace. There are a few scenes which just take up ur heart in a fist. Alia was the best part of the film.

This film had an innovative narrative, the four principle characters hardly cross each other's lines. They have their own story on a tangent and then they intersect in the end.

Udta Punjab preaches without in your face teaching. Brilliant movie.

I liked it. I was surprised at diljits screen time. I didn't think shahid would accept such a role where he is hit by someone like diljit and who has almost as much screen time as him. I was expecting diljit to only have like half an hour or so.

can't reach to GOW that was on another level but still good. I'd say better than 'dedh ishqiya' but not better than 'ishqiya' I just love that movie.

overall good movie on drugs. The whole theater was laughing on tommy's antics and the abuses add to it. So they were not forced at all.
