Well if cheaters really did die then atleast we'd finally be able to solve that overpopulation problem and the majority of BW would be dead 😆 I honestly didn't feel like it was trying to give any kind of message ,it just seems that it was for shock value because the typical thing would be to assume they'd sort out their differences and live as one big happy family and the grandfather would've died after the happy family photo , so what better way to shock the audience than to kill off the dad rather than the grandfather just dying of old age.

I felt the reason they killed the character was to say ,solve all the problems then and there, confront, etc. Arjun never confronted about the novel to his brother or to anyone, Sunita though doubted never directly confronted her husband and Rahul, well. So speak up, have a heart to heart convo..coz kya pata kal ho na ho and have no regrets or guilty.

But they truly did not mended with the dada ji then. They spoiled his party twice and never apologised properly or understood what it meant for him. His dying would have been enormous. Bichare sab ki problems ko suljhane ke chakkar mein khud ulaj ke latak gaya banda.

Then that would be obvious coz everyone came just coz of his last wish and him dying wouldn't have been a zaburdust twist. Besides, he was the comic relief for the movie.

Tumhare mooh mein ghee shakkar. Comic is my only redeeming quality. Upar wale sun raha hai na tu? Dont kill me too soon. I still got swag

may be father's given dates were finished hence they showed him died just like we see in ekta dramas when leads have date issues they were killed abruptly in an accident ?😆 otherwise i dont see the point of killing him...anyways that movie is not my cup of tea though ! OVERHYPED !!!period

LOL yeah possibly. I actually loved the pink color thing he put on his neck. I felt he would be more accomodating to his son. He always seemed like the understanding types. For all we know that man just went to her house to eat some biryani. He didnt deserve to die

Kapoor & Sons was a light and entertaining film with super performances from the entire ensemble cast .The story was thoda hatke and I thoroughly enjoyed the film.
Dadaji dying would have been the normal filmy story ...the father meeting with a fatal accident gave an interesting and unexpected twist..
And yes I am sure he was in a physical affair even though it was not shown explicitly. Also the mother obsessing over her son's success was so typical of an Indian Mom. She did play favourites and Siddhartha was justified in feeling left out.It was again so typical that when she has to face Rahul's truth she initially revolts but then just succumbs.

Good movie !

Yeah there was NO need to kill him at all in the movie.
That came as a shocker to me in the cinema hall and it was like the truck hit me.
May be it was to bind the family more strongly but it would be a good movie and do the same business even if they kill/don't kill him 😭

I think killing Rishi Kapoor off would have been the more obvious way of continuing the story, given how he kept pretending to die...so killing Rajat Kapoor off came as a shock instead (it was well shot btw, the truck hitting him the same time he goes to pick up the phone gave a chilling impact). Plus the reason why Fawad and Sid come back home in the end is because of the video Rishi sent them. I don't think it would have had the same impact if Rajat Kapoor sent the video instead.
Killing Rajat off also killed off his infidelity sub plot, like someone else said it was like Ratna and Fawad forgave him because he died.
