Atleast according to Kapoor & Sons. Found the movie pretty good; it is very hard to grip me to my seat because I get impatient and impulsive but I enjoyed its plot it was captivating. But one thing bothered me was how they had to kill the father. Just when he came clean with his cheating they decided to kill him. Why didnt they kill the grand father? Didn't he did all the tharki talks too and admitted living a very colorful life? I felt like they tried to show that cheating is bad karma and actually killed the character.
What do you think?

Yeah I wish they wouldn't kill off Harsh's character, his death and Sunita's bias broke off the whole family. But that was destiny, he truly regretted cheating over his family and may be that was the only way his sons esp Rahul would never hate him . I wonder that did Arjun ever come to know the truth that his father had cheated his mother ? I guess no, only Rahul and Sunita knew about it and they let forgave him as he died.

Yeah I was also wondering. I dont think Siddharth knew till the end. Also the whole thing was confusing? It didnt look like physical cheating but more like emotional support of cheating to me? The way he was looking confused sitting in her room and worried. Also he didnt get to complete anything unlike his father who lived a good life. It would have been more impactful if dadaji died without having an uncomplete photo ever taken. It would solidify Alias point of living with regrets.

@The Boss - I think killing off the father was necessary to teach the mother a lesson. She was too much engrossed in her wish to attain perfection for her sons, her budget, etc. she betrayed her sons in this process, unintentionally making Arjun a loser, forcing him to keep a life long grudge over Rahul and therefore Harsh's death silenced her. She accepted Rahul with his homosexuality at the end maybe because she realizes that she can't lose her sons now. Dadu dying would not affect the kapoors the way Harsh's death affected them.

Yeah I saw that. She had some weird priorities. The son is like woman your husband is cheating on you, but next minute she forgets all that and is more interested in why you turned out to be this way omgeee. And then about the book. But you see they not only spoiled Dadajis birthday party, but also spoiled his photo taking ceremony when they kept fighting and delaying. Had dadaji died without his wish unfunfilled it would be brutal on all of them.

Prior to the scene was a total chaotic situation with everyone messed up with one another in the family. I felt the reason they killed the character was to say ,solve all the problems then and there, confront, etc. Arjun never confronted about the novel to his brother or to anyone, Sunita though doubted never directly confronted her husband and Rahul, well. So speak up, have a heart to heart convo..coz kya pata kal ho na ho and have no regrets or guilty.
