Well the charactetef died coz writer had wrote themselves into corner and had no idea how to resolve anything.
Hence, they chose the most easiest idea to make the character die.
He died, cheating resolved , sid forgives mother coz you cant be angry with your mother at that point in her life , mother accepts son homosexuality coz she don't wanna lose him.
It would have been far better to see if they could have written without using death.
