Bollywood is a star-driven industry. It was, has been and will probably remain that way. India as country still loves masala and entertainment and doesn't go in mass to theatres for serious movies with powerful acting.

Awards in bollywood generally go to actors who gave a superlative performance in a hit movie grossing huge collections...
Nawaz's or Irfan solo movies don't seem to cross a certain threshold of boxoffice success..
this is just my view..
As i see it, a consistent barometer of award winning actor has been that only doing a great job yourself is not enough, the film also has to do a great job based on the budget... you have to prove that your great job (acting, performance) made the movie a success at boxoffice..
