Trend among youth is they look towards such film celebrities(Salman Khan). If we utilise them there's no harm: VP,IOA

We're getting his (Salman Khan) help & not giving him anything. IOA is not paying him a penny: Tarlochan Singh

SG still pathetic. Image probably, but the event is "Olympics" close on the heels of his movie . Couple have taken any other event like "cleanliness", "education" whatever.

Whatever, pretty stupid decision by IOA to have associated in any way. Not just him but any B-towner shouldn't be given this honour.

But I do not get this intense vitriol for actors...not just in your post but generally in other places too. They are very hard working people especially some of our superstars, their movies run an entire industry and generates incredible employment opportunities and not to mention how much they entertain us. I cannot fathom how you can love movies and at the same time look down upon their profession as not worthy of respect.

Its true that sportsmen toil hard and represent our country but at the same time a flourishing Indian film industry and actors making their mark internationally can also be a source of pride. Why should we be forced to love sportsmen more than filmstars and treat sportsmen as sacred and actors as profane. Is it because they are richer, their personal lives morally corrupt but then would not our impoverished sportsmen be afflicted with the same vices if positions were reversed?? Case in point Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and the numerous football players leading a shady life.

If filmstars are being used to promote truly noble and social causes like cleanliness, education, sanitation, tourism, TB and Pulse polio campaign...why not sports??

Uh oh. Had you not watched his match, you would have gotten a free pass to be dismissive about him. Missed opportunity.

P.S. Just to let some folks here know, there was tremendous hype around Olympics 2012 in India. People have tuned into watch the matches and DO remember the names of all the personalities who brought medals to our country. Just throwing light on a scenario, where people turn over newspapers and tune into news channels and show interest in all the sports events like Olympics, Asian games and even Commonwealth.

In abroad the first thing any brand owner does when their brand ambassador falls from grace (even a suspected one) is to freeze their commercials and boot them out. This has happened with a lot of now disgraced sports athletes though they were not remotely as tarnished as Salman Khan drunk driving, woman abusing, terrorist sympathizing, lying conniving, achievements. Instead they are wine and dined.

Even if you haven't watched his matches/ don know who he is, it is not tough to google and check out who this person is..Takes less than a minute..This has nothing to do with Salman/SRK..The sheer disrespect for sportsmen in this country (basically anyone who is not a cricketer or an actor) is baffling..Its sad that SRK is respected more for a CDI than most hockey players combined in this country..And a Salman will be respected for a Sultan than every wrestler combined..Its useless blaming anyone here..Thats how all of us are and thats how India is..Only movie stars and cricketers are respected 😆

GS- It's not about B-towners not working hard. Nobody questions their brand or selling point. They have mass appeal. But it's the bollywoodization in places like such sports which I object. Such sports hardly get mileage and then you have B-towners hogging the lime-light and taking whatever little credit.

Nobody is forcing you to love who you want? Deffo not an internet post. How is us dissing over utilization of bollywood in such situation linked to what these filmstars do.

Case in point- The people you named got stripped of endorsement s, their medals taken. If a cheat is found in any sport, his medals, reputation is taken away. Ban is implemented. None of such actions happen in B-town. If we really want to talk about corruption or morality.
You have Azhar banned for match fixing, yet b-town will sell his story.-Difference.

yeahh pro wrestling league, i have watched a few of them .actually i wanted see sushil kumar's matches. i liked the girl geeta too. but honestly i think barring sushil, yogeshwar and amit who else have actually got the recognition that they deserve. i think commercializing these games is going to help not only the sports but also those who want to pursue them.

It's funny to see people asking who is Yogheshwar. Truth be told these sports persons don't need bollywood. It's bollywood who sucks up to them to make films. Including Bhai who makes the very sport film his supporters don't know much about. These sports people bring glory to the country. Not shame.

Even to get a watchmans job they go through your full history so it's a shame that all is forgotten about this convicted criminal and all his colorful history who is the most pathetic example of a role model to anyone except some of his Bollywood jobless cronies.

👍🏼

Not just Incredible India, even chotu motu brands began kicking him out for a single statement.
