Arrest Hrithik Roshan: Kangana Ranaut

MUMBAI: Kangana Ranaut, in a 'Queen'-like move, has shot off a letter through her lawyer to the Mumbai police chief seeking an arrest of her two-time co-star Hritik Roshan for "wilfully imputing a lack of chastity" to her. The Hrithik-Kangana open legal spat went a step further on Thursday. Her lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee wrote a second letter to commissioner Datta Padsalgikar where he sought disciplinary action against senior inspector of cyber crime police station, crime branch, for not furnishing a copy of the FIR dated March 5 and Hrihtik's statement as sought by Kangana.

The actor-versus-actor's very public fight has been on since early March and shows little signs of abating for now.

The award-winning actress, said her lawyer, "has been given to understand that her absolutely private and confidential emails as well as photographs etc. which were collected by Hrithik Roshan during his association with her are being malafidely and mischievously misused by him".

Siddiqui, who submitted this letter on Wednesday evening, said in it,"The misuse is with criminal intentions of damaging my client's reputation and to wilfully impute lack of chastity to her." He later told TOI, "We don't really want his arrest since we haven't lodged any FIR but are looking for preventive action to protect her image."

He said Kangana reserves her right to file a FIR against Hritik but wants the cops, "in the meantime" to "prevent such offence for taking place, if it hasn't already been blatantly committed".

"Please do note that Hrithik Roshan had even criminally threatened my client of these actions in his Notice to my client. However as his Notice received a befitting reply from me and he was not in a position to reply to the same, he is now indulging in these criminal acts to put fear in my client's mind," said Siddiquee's letter.


Dipesh Mehta, lawyer for Hrithik, rebutted her claims, saying, "She is making vague and baseless allegations against my client. We have full faith in the investigation by the cyber crime cell and are confident that the police will soon identify the imposter who created the fake email id."

In his complaint on Thursday evening against the cyber crime cop Kalpana Gadekar, Siddiquee pointed to Kangana's "absolute legal rights to demand a copy of the FIR'' as it was a public document under law. He quoted from section 76 of Indian Evidence Act and HC judgments to elucidate on "public documents'' and said "despite repeated requests'' since two weeks, the cop "neglected to hand over the FIR copy thus wilfully neglected her duty". He sought "immediate disciplinary action as provided under Bombay Police Act, for creating unnecessary hindrances and delaying the recording of Kangana's statement".
