Hubby left ill son with me to play polo: Karisma Kapoor
In the domestic violence plea filed by actress Karisma Kapoor against her estranged industrialist husband Sunjay Kapur she has narrated an incident where he left his ill infant son with her to play polo with Prince William.
The actress who got married in 2003 is now fighting a bitter divorce battle with allegations levelled against each other. Karisma's domestic violence application filed before the Bandra metropolitan magistrate, a copy of which TOI has, said that in July 2010 they had to cancel a planned trip to UK to salvage their marriage as their son fell sick. Sunjay became angry and "decided to carry on leaving me behind to take care of our sick four-month-old son just to play a Polo match with Prince William.'' "Later when I joined, he would stay out late and return when I was up for son's 6am feed.''

Sunjay, who last December filed a plea in Mumbai family court for divorce from Karisma, on ground of cruelty by her, has now moved the Supreme Court with a plea to transfer the case out of Mumbai. The SC is scheduled to hear his plea on February 29. The family court in Mumbai at Bandra is scheduled to hear the divorce plea on March 3, said her divorce lawyer Kranti Sathe. Sunjay's lawyers, Hingorani and Associates were not available for comment.
"Even before our wedding his father made my mother cry and I immediately said that if his family could behave in this manner with a woman, the family could do anything in the future and I made up my mind to call off the wedding. Sadly, better sense did not prevail and I was again fraudulently convinced by Sunjay and his family that the incident was on-off,'' she said. She also said how she felt embarrassed when her husband, just before they left for their honeymoon said he was "doing calculations with his brother-in-law about how much I would be worth in terms of my wealth".
She alleged that once after her pregnancy when she was unable to fit into a dress her mother-in-law wanted her to wear, he told his mother, "Why don't you just slap her...'' and her mother-in-law did not admonish him for being rude, but has always been "supporting his philandering lifestyle".
Karisma says Sunjay heads a business empire worth Rs 5,200 crore but she said, "I also realized that he had married me only as I was a famous and successful film star which would facilitate him to be reported in the press. It came as a surprise that he always wanted to be known in public and be famous, but since he never did any deed worth mentioning, he was not able to garner any attention. Hence, the ulterior plan was to flaunt me as his trophy wife in the elitist social circle in Delhi where he was trying to gain prominence at that time,'' the court document she filed states.
