I guess that was shown. The delay was because they were trying to arrange pilots but PanAm doesnt co-operate. When they realize they dont have any option they storm the plane. Due to them storming the plane many people die as terrorists panic and open fire. This is the reason why in hijack situation military is careful while storming the plane.
