Recently, Kangana Ranaut caused a mini-riot while shooting for Anurag Basu's Metro, all because of her bare back!

The shooting was being held in a building in midtown Mumbai. Basu says, "We were shooting with Kangana on the balcony of a 7th floor flat in Parel, and the scene required her to wear a top with a deep-cut back.

To someone looking up from below, it looked as if Kangana was barebacked. And that's exactly what happened."

It wasn't till the crew looked down from the balcony that they released what was going on.

Riot act
Says Basu, "A huge crowd had gathered under the building. They were all shouting and pointing fingers at the balcony. The situation took a turn for the worst when some people from the crowd tried to come up to the apartment where we were shooting. The owners of the house, who'd given us permission to shoot, panicked. They wanted to call in security but we decided to change the shot and finish it indoors. After some time, when the crowds saw that nobody was coming to the balcony, they dispersed. But for some time, even I was scared."

Basu says that Kangana didn't seem worried about the situation. "She was very cool. Initially, she didn't realise what was happening, but when she saw the crowds, she didn't react. Kangana is a brave girl."

Dramatic turn
Talking about Metro, Basu says, "Metro revolves around dramatic incidents that happen to the characters in a city. There is drama in all our lives. Metro is more realistic than my earlier films. Every character is interlinked with the other and there is always and element of 'what's going to happen next?' in the screenplay."

Basu is still recovering from a bout of cancer, which struck him two years ago. He says, "The doctors say that the first six years after treatment are crucial. The major medication is over. I was under heavy medication and chemotherapy while shooting for Gangster in Bangkok. It was painful, but at least I was working. It's far more frustrating to come back home after treatment. At least I have my work to occupy my mind."

Triple offer from Chopras?

There's a buzz in trade circles that Anurag has been approached by Yash Raj Films to sign a contract of three films with the production house, but the Bhatt loyalist refused.

Basu says, "Not really. They haven't offered me a contract, but even if they did I would refuse. I want to do different films. Vishesh Films, with whom I did Gangster, did not like Metro so I'm doing it with UTV.

I prefer to choose my projects first and then my producers. That way, I can put my heart and soul into the film."

Gupte out, Aamir directing ...

The buzz is that Aamir Khan has fallen out with Amol Gupte, the director of his home production, Taare Zameen Par. Aggravated by the director's attitude on the sets, the picky actor has thrown him out of the film and is directing the show HIMSELF.

Aamir is currently shooting the film at New Era High School in Panchgani. A source tells us that bad blood had been brewing between them for some time.

Apparently, the fussy Aamir just wasn't happy with Amol's direction on the sets. Things eventually reached boiling point and resulted in a huge showdown between the actor and the director. Amol then quit and Aamir decided to direct the film himself.

But already, another version of the truth is doing the rounds. Soon after the fight, Aamir apparently decided that instead of throwing Amol out altogether, it made better sense to co-direct the film with him. Gupte remained unavailable for comment.
