Your comment makes it seem like Pious Hindus and Salman fans are taking issue with Gerua while they didn't with PRDP.
If it were so much in bad taste, why wasn't so much fuss made about it during all the time PRDP was out, and was made fun of? Except, NOW, SRK fans after wanting to claim Gerua as both a holy word and national word, and that people shouldn't make fun of it--after people responded to that point and bring up PRDP, you want to point out PRDP's 'religious' words/phrase and call it in bad taste.
It was SRK fans themselves who brought up the 'holy factor' and that it shouldn't be made fun of. That is when PRDP was pointed out that it too had religious factors and people still made fun of those words. It didn't start with anyone trying to say Gerua was in poor taste. If it weren't for SRK fans themselves, no one would probably have said 'Gerua' in the song was in poor taste.😆
I want to see the next time SRK comes into some controversy by some fringe group accusing of some random, dumb thing. If the opinions here would be consistent with the opinions used to either defend or criticize him.
People shouldn't make fun of the color, the word 'Gerua,' according to some SRK fans. It may symbolize the color of purity and top most color, but that still doesn't mean that is the only thing. As SRK himself described it, it means 'orange or saffrony'. Waiting for protest and outrage for his describing the word simply as a color.
I quoted that post for this reason exactly. How hypocritical that people want to jump on restricting people's humor and attempt to make fun by bringing up that 'some things should not be touched' while when fringe extreme groups do it--well it may depend and vary according to which actor they do it against.
People are actually making fun of the word, Gerua in this thread itself. Did u read the detractors' comments before coming and arguing with me? 😕 And yes, Gerua means orange/saffron, the lyrics are written by a Bengali and in that language Gerua means saffron, its the holy color of Hindus.
Most people dont even know the meaning of Gerua and even after being told are making fun of it just to put down the rival group's favorite and his upcoming movie.
Didnt u read the controversy abt SRK's intolerance comments and the furore it caused, the names he was called in this forum? Where have u been?
BTW, another commenter brought up Ram Ratan dhan payo, my comment was in response to that. Just go and check the earlier page. Some people dont even know the actual bhajan is Payoji mainey RAAM ratan dhan payo. And yes, it is disrespectful to change Lord Rama's name into Prem for the song and movie title. I did think abt this when movie released but didnt bother to point it out.
