^ word.
I think Sharmila doesn't realize that maybe she shouldn't have converted in order to marry someone.

She sounds like a hypocrite...
just because she doesn't practice islam... doesn't mean anything. why did she convert?

She is a extreme leftist who stay in a glass house so away from ground reality.

Where was Sharmila Tagore when Mumbai riots occurred, Where was she when Sikh riots occurred. Where was she when farmers suicide was at peak. Where was she when Dalits were killed for so many years, Why is it that she opened her trap now???

She is a hypocrite.A politician at heart.

She's an opportunist. Maybe now she too can get a Magasaysay award or at least some cash reward from the Ford Foundation.

As an Indian citizen Sharmila Tagore has every right to voice her opinion against intolerance. Her personal beliefs or religion has nothing to do with it. This where was she when 84 happened, 91 happened etc. is absurd.

She has every right to voice her opinion but we also every right to criticize her. We cannot be labeled as intolerant bunch because we disagree with her,

Read the original article written by Sharmila Tagore. She doesn't sound hypocrite to me even after reading Ms.Sarkar's open letter. Her editorial, her choice to write on whatever topic she wants to.

A quick glance at Saswati Sarkar's twitter account is enough to know where is she coming from. She calls herself socially progressive and shares non existent links with headlines that can easily rile up Hindu sentiments.

To me, the writer appears to be a fanatic and I feel she lives abroad and I am so happy that she doesn't stay in Kolkata. The less fanatics like her,the better. The city is still untouched by fanatics and gives me the complete freedom to celebrate Durga Puja as much as eat a beef steak at a pub or a beef roll at a food joint without getting my face blackened or getting murdered despite being a Hindu.
The writer can carry her ideologies with her on twitter and waste time spreading hatred.

Who the hell is she for making such an assumption on behalf of all Bengalis celebrating Durga Puja?

Your article is in Bengali and was uploaded on the eve of Durga Puja which is the greatest festival of Bengali Hindus. On such an auspicious occasion, how sensitive was it to name your article "This is Not a Very Happy Time"(E boro anonder somoy noy)? We are aware that your article is about "intolerance" just as you are aware that most readers of your chosen media, viz. Kolkata-based Anandabaazar Patrika, are Bengali Hindus. While trying to guilt-trip Bengali Hindus about "intolerance", when they were about to start their annual festivities, didn't you feel any sense of guilt yourself?

How convenient of the author to link a mere editorial/personal opinion of a person with the feelings of every single Bengali hindu in the city? Can't even tolerate a mere article and blame it for making the Bengali Hindus guilty? 🤪

By criticizing and questioning her right because she has Muslim connections?
Doesn't sound very fair to me.
Basically, nobody has anything to say about what Sharmila was speaking about in her article.
Everyone is too busy mud slinging and trying to undermine her character.

Sounds very mature to me 😆

Oh yes...the very famous #DurgaPujaBan in Birbhum as per the tweets of these bhakts...

Here Hindus can't worship that's why our own President of India is celebrating Durga Puja at his ancestral home in Birbhum,West Bengal

http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/look-at-durga-idol-many-identities-co-exist-pranab-mukherjee/

That's why when you see tweets like this

Saswati Sarkar @sarkar_swati

We celebrated Durgapuja while Birbhum in Bengal could not because of #DurgaPujaBan

You immediately try to search online and find a link with a hard hitting headline like this...

An when you try to open the link...

Hoards of newspapers and news channels in West Bengal, many anti TMC/Mamata Banerjee, no news about this so called 'Durga Puja Ban' in Birbhum, the very same place where Pranab celebrated Durga Puja.

This is what some people want. Divide, create hatred and rule. And I see this turning into reality very soon. Good luck to all of us and god bless us all.😊
