As Shahrukh Khan awaits the release of his film 'Don', thespian Dilip Kumar and yesteryear beauty Saira Banu gear up for their soon to release Bhojpuri film. TIMES NOW's Niha Siddiqui finds out why this star couple does not believe in the concept of remakes. Dilip Kumar is a name that set the silver screen ablaze, and had the audience in awe of his performances. He has been termed as the tragic hero of the Indian film industry. Dilip Kumar has given hits the memories of which linger on even today. But he doesn't quite agree with the trend of remakes set by the new generation of directors. "I don't quite relate to it. They spend enormous amounts of money; it leaves me in awe, but does not satisfy my sensibilities," said Dilip Kumar. Similarly, wife Saira Banu does not seem very happy with the trend. Having worked in some great films and having shared screen space with some of the greatest actors, she chooses to differ from the filmmakers' mindset.
"I don't see myself doing remakes because I'm not much for remakes at all. Sanjay Leela Bhansali made a wonderful film with a lot of glamour and creativity in 'Devdas'. But, the original 'Devdas' has its own touch, and many people prefer the old 'Devdas'," said Saira Banu. And not to forget, superstar Shahrukh Khan, believed to be closest to the thespian in terms of style and acting, who obviously endorses the idea of remakes. "I've done two remakes - 'Devdas' and 'Don' - so I think it's alright if you want to remake a film. I doubt that I can act as well as Dilip sahib. If I can even manage 0.001 per cent of him, I think it would be wonderful," said Shahrukh Khan. By Niha Siddiqui |
You have on one hand Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu against the whole concept of remakes, and on the other hand you have SRK who still goes ahead and says that I am okay with remakes.🤢 He says that he can't act as well as Dalip Sahib, but makes no mention of Big B.
