KARACHI: The rumour mill has been high on grist that Kareena Kapoor Khan is soon to appear in our very own Shoaib Mansoor's next film. On the differing news making the rounds, Shoaib told The Express Tribune he'd like to remain mum for now.
"I wouldn't like to comment or elaborate on these rumours for now," said the director of Bol fame, clarifying that he has "not spoken to any publication" regarding the status of and casting for his upcoming movie. But a close friend of the Khuda Kay Liye helmsman confirmed the news about him having approached Kareena for the stint. "As far as I know, he has only pitched the movie to her so far," said the source.
Conjecture brewed after Kareena expressed her admiration for Shoaib's works, which was followed by news that the filmmaker has approached the Bollywood star for an upcoming project. Numerous Indian publications have reported conflicting statements, even stating that Kareena met Shoaib in Dubai for a formal script narration.
"Although Kareena has verbally accepted the offer, she wants to hear the script. After that, she will sign the deal," DNA India quoted a source as saying. "For a while now, she has been keeping an eye out for projects that will allow her to push the envelope and [she] believes that Shoaib's story is one of them."
According to the Times of India, Bebo is yet to sign the Pakistani film. Be that as it may, if the said deal materialises, this will be the first time a Bollywood A-lister would be seen in a local film. Previously, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah had played a special role in Shoaib's 2007 filmKhuda Kay Liye.

Kareena Kapoor Khan chooses Dubai, the City of Gold to sign Pakistani filmmaker Shoaib Mansoor's next; the 'Ki and Ka' actress will join Twitter for a day to announce the film
Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was reportedly considering an offer from acclaimed Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor, is now ready to make the collaboration official. The actress, we hear, will jet off to Dubai next week to meet Mansoor for a formal script narration and sign on the dotted line.

A source close to Kareena says, "A few months ago, Mansoor had e-mailed his concept to Kareena, saying that she will have a powerful role in the film. She liked the idea but wanted to read the script before giving her nod to the film. She will be the first A-list actress to work in a Pakistani project."
Kareena, who is currently shooting for R Balki's Ki And Ka with Arjun Kapoor, has now taken off time to meet the Bol director in Dubai where she will stay put for two days. "Although Kareena has verbally accepted the offer, she wants to hear the script. Post that, she will sign the deal. For a while now, she has been keeping an eye out for projects that will allow her to push the envelope and believes that Mansoor's story is one of them," adds the source.
Interestingly, the actress plans to join Twitter for a day to announce the film by the month-end. "She also plans to connect with her fans online. But, she will be off social networking after that," the source reveals.
Kareena's spokesperson confirms the news.
Kareena Kapoor wrapped up the Delhi schedule for R Balki's rom-com, Ki and Ka, on Saturday but stayed back in the capital over the weekend to bring in her 35th birthday."Saif flew down with Bebo's sister, Karisma, and bestie, Amrita Arora Ladak. Malaika Arora Khan was also there for the all-nighter, as was Kareena's stylist and make-up artist Mallika Bhatt and family friend, Mashhoor Amrohi," says a source.
The party began with a casual lunch in the garden of the Pataudi Palace with the Begum admitting that she felt like a royal even in shorts and tank tops. The party went on till midnight. There was wine and lots of selfies. Amrita described it as a "birthday weekend equals laughter riot moment...".
Meanwhile, Mirror has learnt that Bebo got the perfect birthday gift a few days ago, when Pakistani writer-director, Shoaib Mansoor whose repertoire boasts of AngloPakistani film, Khuda Kay Liye and Urdu-drama, Bol, flew down for talks with the actress on an upcoming heroine-centric film, which takes off next year. Though they have yet to sign on the dotted line, Bebo, who was last seen in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, opposite Salman Khan, a film which addressed the Indo-Pak border issue too, will be in Malik's woman-centric next.
In an interview to Mirror (July 17), the glam Hindi film heroine had admitted that she wants to go back to doing roles like Chameli and Omkara. "Over the last two years I've chosen to be a part of only commercial successes. I'd just got married, wanted time to travel and be home with my husband, so I opted to do just one-two films a year. Now that I'm settled, I want to work with new, interesting directors. After 15 years, I've done the rounds with all the Khans, and now it's time to get out of my comfort zone," she'd asserted.
With Shoaib on the borderline, Bebo's in good company.
In early days of Khuda Kay Liye a reporter asked Shoaib Mansoor about his immediate future plans in film making business, and Mansoor,- if not being pessimist- then very realistically said, "Oh no, have you seen my filmmaking speed, it took me years to complete my first film, I don't think I would make more than five films in my whole life.'
Well, with the announcement of his next film; and that too within a year of his last widely acclaimed sociocultural release (Bol), it seems like Mansoor has started cutting down on the long gaps he use to take before initiating a new project, and this time with Indo-Pak relations being focused, it would be even bigger and far more interesting than his previous ventures.
According to Times of India, the next Shoman production' is going to be a period love story set during 1947 Indian subcontinent partition.
Talking to TOI, Mansoor said, "I've been deeply troubled by the deteriorating relations between the two countries. For too long now we've been blaming extraneous forces and a third-party for the decline in friendship between the two nations. Why not look within ourselves for reasons why the bonding across the border has taken such a beating?"
"It cannot be a superficial boy-meets-girl-across-the-barbed-wire-fence story. Cinema in both countries needs to go deeper to pin down the reasons for the rapidly deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan," commented Mansoor on the subject he has chosen this time.
Like all his past silver screen works, this time again the story is written by Shoaib Mansoor himself, however cast and the name of the film hasn't been finalized yet, or at least not yet been made public, but we hope this time again Shoaib Mansoor will come up with something really big and will set a trend for all in-future-to-be-made Indo-Pak centric films.

Krishika Lulla, who's come on board as the producer , tells us, "It's true, Shoaib and I are collaborating for a female-oriented film." She remains tight-lipped abiout the deails, "It's still in the scripting stage." She has already been successful with two female centric films "NH10 and Tanu Weds Manu Returns " and hopes to have a hattrick with this film.
She is hesitant to talk about Bebo's presence in the film. Nevertheless, our sources confirm that the producer, the director and the actress will meet shortly to finalise the project.
Now wait for the announcement!
