i think it was ahead of it's time. during that time perios ppl hardly appreciated these kind of films. i am sure it would have done better if it would have been made today.

music and performances in the film were simply amazing. one of srk and manisha's best .

The film was too dark,too political,too tragic for the audience.SRK and Manisha had intense chemistry.The music was the soul of the film. The feel of the film was poetic.

No I don't like manisha at all and I genuinely don't see her as an actress material...whether 1942 or Khamoshi.

Coming to the movie...Though I didn't like it that time but I am ready to watch it all again just to see how my views changed from then to now. 😊

A.R.Rehman's songs are amazing.I too love this song.Preity was earnest in her debut film.

That's good I m sceptical of box office reports else wud have missed this classic(despite a somber theme)..
