Well of course Kabir Khan and entire idea of using 26/11 as a backdrop. That in itself gives me a reason to watch the movie. Next may be Katrina and songs and then Saif.

katrina used salman name a lot during promotions and Salman just gave 2 Back 2 back huge blockbusters with Kabir khan

I'm not a Katrina fan but one cant deny her star power on the box office. All of her films always get at least good opening numbers .And she's probably one of the actresses with the highest success rate. I hate to admit it.. 😆

Sorry but i dont think Kabir Khan gets any credit here in terms of the opening, nobody would go into a theatre and say "lets watch this movie because Kabir Khan directed it"...ETT worked because of Salman-Kat...BB worked because of Salman...NY worked because of Katrina + Good Music + Content ...and I personally believed that Phantom will work because of Katrina''s star power + content.

Hes not that big of a director that people would go for him - if people can reject Yash Chopra's films and Kjo;s films...then Kabir kya cheez hai lol

YES i agree, the success of BB defiantly adds value to Phantom and the overall product- but Kabir is in no way a significant reason for the movies box office numbers.

The subject of the movie ie., 26/11 attacks.

As many members here already mentioned, what Saif said and the reactions from across the border, were not even covered by Indian media, not on TV, not in papers. Only people on twitter and IF are seen discussing them.

When the trailer of this film released, most people on IF were saying that this film will be the true test of Katrina's star power. Now that the film has recieved a great opening they want to attribute the success to Kabir Khan. 😆

I mean come on, I'm also a big Kabir Khan admirer but I'm sure most people living India are not like us IF members who are well informed of every director, every piece of news/gossip/controversies. The general population of India either goes to watch a film to see their favourite star in it or goes to watch it if it's a big established banner like someone mentioned (YashRaj/Dharma).

Katrina, Kabir and controversies and probably good content

Katrina hasnt delivered a flop since yuvraaj. Now that is a big achievement. Love or hate her but she is the biggest female star right now.

Kabir just delivered a 300 cr film. Audience probably has a lot of faith in him.

Controversies...It worked for almost every film and now phantom as well.

Anyway I will be watching phantom because of kabir and katrina. I have faith on kabir. I am sure this will be a good film. Also katrina because her film came out of more than 1 year. I like watching her onscreen.

MaryKom last year opened at 8.5 crores with 2000 prints.It had no Afghan jalebi or anything remotely stylish or massy..

Heroine had a item song but absolutely no face value.

The dirty picture opened at 10 crores

Ramleela opened at 15 crores...so did 2 states..so did ek villain..

Phantom on the other hand has a saleable star who has been around for 2 decades..
