1988 - 1991

Salman Khan stepped in Bollywood with filmBiwi Ho To Aisi in year 1988. His debut film failed to leave an impression at the Box Office and was a flop as it only managed to earn Rs. 1.3 crore net approx.

However, Salman Khan gave us all time blockbuster film the very next year. Yes, we are talking about Maine Pyar Kiya, which collected Rs. 15 crore net approx at the Box Office. Then came Baaghi in 1990, which was a hit and then he gave another Super hit film in January 1991,Sanam Bewafa, which earned Rs. 5.75 crore net approx at the Box Office. The very next month after Sanam Bewaf released, came Salman Khan's film Patthar Ke Phool, which did an excellent business at the Box Office and collected Rs. 6.5 crore net approx.

After giving a flop the same year in May, Salman Khan gave his superhit film Saajan in August, 1991 which collected Rs. 10 crore net approx at the Box Office. 1991 was a good year for the star but as the year was ending, tables turned onSalman Khan. In November 1991 came Salman Khan's film Love which turned out to be a flop at the Box Office but this was not it for the star.

1992 - 1996

After Love, Salman Khan gave five back to back flop films for 3 years at the Box Office. The spell broke when Hum Aapke Hai Kaun released in August, 1994. The film became all time blockbuster by collecting Rs. 69.75 crore net approx. at the Box Office. The same month one more Salman Khan film, Chaand Ka Tukdareleased which turned out to be a flop.

However, the same course of flop films didn't repeat itself as Salman gave another blockbuster in January, 1995, Karan Arjun, which collected Rs. 32.15 crore net approx at the Box Office. Or that's what his fans thought as the actor yet again submerged into darkness of failure at the Box Office as he gave three back-to-back flop films from September, 1995 to August, 1996. However, Salman Khans year was saved by his film Jeet, which released the same month and did a decent business at the Box Office.

1997 - 1998

Salman started 1997 by giving hit film Judwaa, which earned Rs. 15 crore net approx at the Box Office and then began the cycle of hit and average films. Salman went back and forth with hit and average films such as Auzaar (below average), Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (hit), Jab Pyaar Kissi Se Hota Hai (above average) and Bandhan(semi hit) till 1998. Salman Khan ended 1998 on a good note as the audiences saw him on the silver screening in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which turned into an all time blockbuster by collecting Rs. 45.25 crore net approx at the Box Office.

1999 - 2003

From 1999 to 2003, Salman Khan gave six flop films (Jaanam Samjha Karo, Hello Brother, Chal Mere Bhai, Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaye, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge and Yeh Hai Jalwa) and four hit films (Biwi No.1, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Baghban) at the Box Office with few below and above average films.

During this period, Salman Khan didn't give any blockbuster film.

2004 - 2006

From 2004 to 2006 Salman Khan starred in 11 films; 6 films extremely failed to make any impact at the Box Office, while 2 films did an average business and the remaining 3 films were the only hit films by the star. In this period, Salman Khan's Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, which released in July, 2004 did an amazing business at the Box Office and managed to collect Rs. 29.5 crore net approx, so was his 2005 film Maine Pyar kyun Kiya, which earned Rs. 27 crore net approx. Released in August, 2005, Salman's film No Entry turned out to be a super hit with total collections of Rs. 43 crore net approx.

Baaghi is a flop movie. I remember reading an interview that Nagma accepted two movies one with Slaman and other with SRK ...both bombed at box office brutally.

Year 2009 for Salman Khan ended with yet another flop film Main Aur Mrs Khanna, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan. From October 2009 to January 2010, Salman Khangave 3 films, all of them failed to create magic on the silver screen.

But Salman Khan's whole career took a huge turn in September, 2010 when his film Dabangghit the theatres. The film became an all time blockbuster after collecting Rs. 141 crore net approx at the Box Office. After that, Salman hasn't stopped and has given back-to-back super hit and blockbuster films. It's not unfair to say that Dabangg made Salman the "Dabangg" Khan of Bollywood.

After Dabangg, Salman was seen in Ready,Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Kickand Bajrangi Bhaijaan, all of them turned out to be super hit films at the Box Office.

By collecting 198 crore net approx, Ek Tha Tigerbecame all time blockbuster, where Kick becameSalman Khan's first film to enter the 200 crore club by earning Rs. 233 crore net approx at the Box Office. Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which is still running smoothly at the Box Office and breaking records, became the second film by the star to enter the 200 crore club by collecting Rs. 289.11 crore net approx in just 18-day run at the Box Office.

Salman's luck really turned only after 2008. Of course, movies today make more money because of inflation and all, the same amount of money has less value.
10 years from now, when Varun Dhawan will be the Superstar(hypothetically), and films will routinely make 1000 crores, his fans will be dissing Salman Khan and asking why he could never match Varun D's success.

Wow 😲 huge & drastic change of his stardom. The last few years turning out very good for him. On that time (flop phase) no one might thought he would able to sustain a place in Bollywood today.

OTT - can u post boxoffice analysis on SRK too 😳

Bold - stupidity has no limit then 😆

If this is the case then every current actors of bw should be compare to AB sr Dilip Kumar Manoj K Dharam paaji Sanjay Dutt & etc. Undoubtedly current lot earn more success then them. All those actors do have flops in their career.

Varun is still new in the game. Starkids always get special treatment. Will need to see Varun after one of two flop. Look at RK 😆
