I think Rajeev and Anupama are more balanced with their reviews... So I will wait for their verdict.

hmm yes she seems bit harsh.
I will watch the movie myself and decide I guess😆

Akshay Kumar's Brothers Movie Review

Brothers Movie Review: Plot

As the movie's name suggest it based on two brothers and the whole film revolves around David Fernandes (Akshay Kumar) and Monty Fernandes (Sidharth Malhotra).Gary Fernandes(their father), a former alcoholic and street-fighter.He has to go to jail for some crimes he has made.David doesn't like his father, but his younger brother stand by his father's side. This creates a difference between two brothers.Jenny Fernandes (Jacquline Fernandez) is married to David and supports him in everything. Now Monty wants to take revenge from his brother so he get trained by his father.Monty reaches into the final of world championship of martial arts where he has to face his brother David. This story is fully based on fighting and some broken relationship.

You have to watch the movie to know who wins the championship? If the buried their differences or not?

Brothers Movie Review: Direction, Editing, Screenplay

Direction is good but not the best. The film feels too lengthy.Director Karan Malhotra doesn't do justice to his part. The film is based on sports(MMA), so all sports scenes are awesome.Music by Ajay Atul of the film is not that great. The Cinematography is top notch.Cinematographer Hermant Chaturvedi did a great job with camera.

Brothers Movie Review :Star Performance:

All stars acted well.As always Akshay does an excellent job in the film.He plays the role of David and believe me, he looks like a trained MMA fighter in the movie.Sidharth Malhotra impressed everyone with his previous Villian and this time too he does a great job.Jackie Shroff and Jacquline Fernandez are also good in the movie.

Which we like:

Akshay as David Fernandes
Best fighting scenes
Acting of all the stars
Which we don't like:

Music
2.4 hrs of Movie
Climax is not that great
Overkilled drama in a Sport oriented movie

Watch or Not?

Overall it's a good movie.I enjoyed it.If you are Akshay Kumar's fan then definitely go and watch he is at his best in the movie.I am disappoint with the direction but Fighting scenes are WOW.This film is a must watch movie.

Ratings:

3.5*/5

Bollywood review: Akshay Kumar kicks up a storm, but is that enough?
Director Karan Malhotra's unable to pump in any real emotion into the sports drama
By Sneha May Francis
Published Thursday, August 13, 2015

Much like director Karan Malhotra's macho fighter, who tires out his opponents before going for the big strike, even his feature painfully drains us before hitting us with the big face-off.

By then, you are done caring.

From when the curtains go up, Karan's busy upping the emotional quotient with a drunken father and his feisty sons tearing up over a past tragedy that he leaves the real rustic fighting for the fag end.

While we're constantly promised there's a historical battle just round the corner, it only emerges after we've spend much of the 170 minutes of screen time witnessing a broken family's many struggles, tragedies and copious amounts of tears.

Not that any of it is ever going to influence you.

You sit there, unaffected, watching one drama after another unfold without any impact.

The narrative is awfully sluggish and predictable, and would've benefitted immensely from extravagant trimmings. Clearly, we can't put the blame entirely on Karan or his editor Akiv Ali, because much of the damage came out of borrowing the script (officially) from Hollywood's Warrior'.

But, unlike the original, the Bollywood version is further punctured with songs. If Karan's debut Agneepath', a remake of a cult, had Chikni Chameli' gyrating to some senseless lyrics, there's Mary' going all out to sizzle.

Karan, unfortunately, is unable to keep it tight and gripping. It could've turned into a possibly good sports drama, instead, it's reduced to a formulaic mess with item girls and cosmetic tear-jerkers.

It's when the battle ground is finally set for right to fight' (R2F), where disgraced street fighters have a second chance at fame and money, that there's some level of excitement, but the unhurried screenplay wears you down.

Akshay is effortless as he throws his strikes and punches in the ring, and takes on David without much conflict. His acting isn't spectacular, but his action is.

Siddarth Malhotra appears uninterested and plugs a wooden expression throughout the movie. He's obviously worked on the physicality of Monty, but not his emotional turbulence.

Despite flaunting an interesting body of work, Shefali Shah disappoints with her perplexing dramatics. Jacky Shroff too appears earnest, but he's armed with nothing more than a shabby hair-do and wardrobe to emote angst and pain.

It's the younger crop of actors, who appear far more genuine in their performance.

The spectacular scenes are restricted to the fighting ring. But, unlike Rocky Balboa's bloody boxing adventures, David and Monty's martial arts doesn't inspire or demand applause.

Zoya's movie after ZNMD with superstar ensemble, highly promoted and fell in family entertainer genre..Still it opened at 11 Cr or something right? So expectations from Brothers should be even less, considering it has only Akki who can boast of star power and serious action drama theme😛

I dont think you cant compare these two movies different genre and different audiences. Brothers is appealing for Multi and Single audiences. Besides that DDD had even less than 2500 screens and it wasnt highly promoted say like ABCD2 which went all over the places their only plus was that well known actors and a director was in it. Whatever no point to bring other movies in to discussion. With that amount of Screens and Akkis power it should open above 14cr since Gabbar was around that and now the buzz and circumstances are for brothers even much better than Gabbar. If the movie is really crap than maybe it wont reach the 100cr. which i am sure of it will enter. So good luck for the Team.👏
