The respect he gets is for his personal life not for anything else. But going by Deepika's correct stance of not inviting him after his tharkiness looks like people will now call him out on his bad behaviour and he needs to be careful and stop all that nonsense. Earlier people took it quietly because of his seniority and he got away with stuff. But I think people are much more bindass now and dont care about all that. Maybe soon we will see a sting operation on him and that would be well deserved. People in power should not misuse their power - he needs to learn that.

Yes..he continues to enthrall his audience.He works harder than any actor,I know,including Akki,Big B completed 3 films,KBC and a daily soap on Tv.He also attends more events than any actor I know.He writes regularly,keeps his fans updated and also replies to his fans often.Then there are the numerous ads he does for radio and television..

Blinds and gossip don't affect his fans or standing in the industry.

I am not even talking about his stardom here. From what I have read about his personal life he came across as really fake.

Yes, AB Sr has proven his talent,versatility and stardom to everybody in the industry many times over
As far as the tharkiness is concerned he is not being respected for that but for being one of the biggest superstars BW has ever had.

Yup. He deserves respect strictly for his work. I admire his work, but I dislike the personal side of him that appears in interviews. If I were to catch him at an airport, I would just watch from the side there is no way in hell I am going to run up to him and sing praises about how great he is.

Quite often the lines are blurred between professional and personal. Some people tend to respect a person for their professional achievements and ignore the personal side of them. While some do not respect a person due to their personal side. Neither are right or wrong on their part, but I do think the former tend to get carried away with their blind support.

We don't know anything about his personal life, none of us do. What we think we know are based on blinds, gossip and strictly heresay. So the respect he gets from the general public makes sense because of everything that others have mentioned, his talent, endurance and resilience over the decades, and contribution to the arts.

As for why the industry respects him as it is much more likely that people within the industry know the truth about him? Well, two explanations. 1) that the gossip about him is exactly that, gossip and completely untrue. 2) that the industry has a very strict code of silence where they will never turn on one of their own. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Bollywood's behavior as it's own little society can be very perplexing. Amitabh Bachchan is by no means the only one who might have gotten a pass from the industry for misbehaving with females. And while there is no excuse for sexual harassment or possibly sexual assault, these aren't the only things the industry seems to be blas and unbothered about when it comes to one of their own. We see it all the time.

No he was mediocre actor, a mediocre entertainer and a horrible human being. What he would deserve would be rotting in prison charged under terrorist laws and sexual assualt/molestation charges.

Tharki buddha is disgusting. And what's so great about his acting? Used his connections with indira and Rajiv Gandhi to get stardom otherwise nobody was giving hima 2 rs role also.

Then when his name cropped up in a scam, he ditched them and became chaddy buddies with another tharki buddha Amar SIngh.

Then when Amar Singh ka taara doobne laga toh isne usko bhi bye bye kar diya. Jaya Prada publicly shamed him that he didn't even visit his tharki buddy in hospital. Uske baad yeh gaya wahan pe.

Bollywood mein sab ass lickers hain. Faltu publicity meilta hai isko.

Opportunist of the first order.

Respect ke naam pe hi dhabba hai. Kya isne aisa achieve kar liya. Just because he's the only senior actor still around bolly people act like issi se sab shuru hota hai.
