DON - Already a HIT overseas

Don has garnered a staggeringly high 288,000 on its opening weekend making it among the highest SRK openings in the UK. The film is already a huge hit and should be yet another big success of SRK overseas after KANK!

In the US, the situation is no different. This clearly conveys that Don is a slap on the face of self-proclaimed trade pundits who felt that 'Don' may falter overseas this festive season when audience would be giving a cold shoulder to a film with an action theme.

I will wait for the reports of Box Office India rather than relying on any other box office source. 'Joginder Tuteja has just given an arbitrary number which he claims to be a record (I believe KANK, KGKG, Krissh, Fanna, Lage Raho have exceeed these figures) and a vague sort of assesment for US markets as well. When I went to Cineworld at Feltham in UK last Saturday which is just a day after it's release, the theatres were running half empty. The guy at the ticket counter said that the tickets are availble in plenty. The same was tha case for Harrow, Middlesex. The latter had actually subsidized the cost of the ticket to 3 pounds noon show to attract audience, so I don't know how these numbers are created.

It's too early to speak. I will also wait for figures to pour in from Box Office India. As far as I know the halls in and around London were running half empty over the weekend hence I don't know how these figures have come up. In any case 288K is not grand. It is an abysmal 2.2 crores INR only.The movis budget was in the region of 50 crores.

India again is going to be the make or break market for farhan akhtar's Don.
