Before the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan', director Kabir Khan had said that he would be mighty pleased if the film is still running in theatres when Phantom' releases. However, even he wouldn't have expected the kind of response that the Salman Khan starrer received in the last two months.

The film went on to plunder box office records and eventually became one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema. The second most watched film this millennium after Gadar - Ek Prem Katha' and the second highest grosser of all time after PK'.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan' has also become the highest overseas grosser in Phase 1 of its release, something that has shocked and surprised the trade, as Salman's previous highest grosser was Kick, which collected Rs 70 crore overseas. Bajrangi Bhaijaan' has nearly tripled that.

The film is the 2nd highest grosser of all time, only behind Aamir Khan's PK, but that could change once it releases in other countries overseas.
