13 years of sleeping pill.

It works faster than sleeping pill.

SLB deserves karela award for this film.

Over acting of shahrukh was pukeworthy.

The only SLB film which i liked. One of my fav SRK movie. The best thing of the film was music.

As usual, some of these facts are wrong.

Kareena was NOT offered Khamoshi. That film was released a month before her 16th birthday. So she was 15 when it was released. And if she was offered it she would have been 14 then. So this is just not true. It would be hard for any newcomer to do that role, let alone a 14 year old.

Btw Madhuri Dixit was the first choice. Her secretary was called several times by SLB and his team but she rejected.

Was Kareena offered HDDCS? Not sure about this.

SLB in fact went on record to say that he wrote the character with Madhuri Dixit in mind. And he desperately wanted her to play Nandini but he was too embarrassed to chase her again.

Madhuri later said after the film's release that she loved the movie and would have loved to do it.

Also, Kajol was offered the role, but once again she declined, and ironically lost the Best Actress award to Aish that year (vs her Dil Kya Kare/HADMRH)

Regarding Bebo/Devdas...

Parts of the story have been revealed over the years.

From what I can gather...

Kareena really wanted to be part of this movie. She turned up to SLB's offices with her mother and sister Karisma wearing a full elaborate lehnga style costume and demanded he screen test her there and then. They all tried to pressure him to sign her, he just about managed to get her to leave the office saying he will let her know...

But when he didn't select her she went to all the magazines and famously said "SLB doesn't know how to make movies"

What drama.

For a lack of better word.. she is such a bhikhari. 🥱 Always begging for movies.

@bold - See this is what I hate about star-kids. They can turn up and pressure director to take screen test. Also, parents pressure producer/director to cast their babies. 🤢 🤢

I would even root for untalented outsiders over this losers. 😵

Boring film. Crap. OTT.

SRK hammed like no tomorrow. He was voted as the biggest ham in Outlook poll that year, for his "act" in this film.

Ash was fine. MD looked jaded but was great in songs.

We were laughing seeing those changes in story. Devdas is returning from London? Paro and Chandramukhi meet and dance? In those days women from respectable families could never be caught dead visiting a brothel! SLB went overboard with his so called creative liberties.

Overrated costume drama. Too artificial to connect on an emotional level.
